"That movie sucked." Ki said as the credits played. "I think you're just scared." I teased and stood up so I could clean up the mess in the kitchen. "I'm not scared." She grumbled and crossed her arms.
"Ki's scaaaared." Colby sang as Sam laughed. "I'm not scared! You're the ones who are gonna be scared tomorrow. I've seen your videos. You guys are pussies." Ki said as Sam and Colby's jaws dropped.
I stifled a laugh then turned to the trash can so I could throw the pizza boxes away. "It's scary." Sam defended as Colby hummed in agreement. "Yeah, you'll see." He said as I laughed.
"Alright calm down, children." I said then grabbed a white claw and made my way back to the couch. "We're gonna have fun, and nobody is going to leave the house early." I said as Ki shook her head.
"If you get possessed then we're leaving." She said as I rolled my eyes. "I'm not getting possessed." I said as Colby wrapped his arm around me. "You better not." Colby said as I leaned into him. "I'm not going to." I repeated as Sam pulled up another movie to watch.
I got about halfway through this movie before my eyes were closing by themselves. "You tired?" Colby asked as I nodded. "I'm gonna go to bed." I said then stood up, stretching. I stretched too far then hissed at the pain that my appendix scar gave me.
"Fuck." I groaned then rubbed my side as I walked to Ki and I's room. I went into the room then walked over to my suitcase so I could grab my pajamas and face wash.
I walked into the bathroom and got ready for bed. When I was done with that I walked back into the bedroom to see Colby and Ki sitting on the bed. They were talking about the plan for tomorrow so I walked over to my suitcase.
"How about we leave at 10 instead of 7." Ki said as Colby breathed a laugh and shook his head. "We have to drive an hour to get there." Colby explained. "Great, I'll sleep in the car." She said then turned to me.
"We have to get up at the asscrack of dawn." Ki said as I nodded. "That checks out." I said then walked over to Colby. "Goodnight, baby." I said then grabbed his cheeks and kissed him. "See you in the morning, beautiful." He said then got up and walked out of the room.
"Thanks for staying in this room with me." Ki said as we got in the bed. "I miss you! I know we see eachother all the time but it's usually to do wedding stuff." I said and laid down. "Yeah, I'm so happy you're letting me be involved in that." She said then turned off the light.
"There's nobody else I would want to be my maid of honor." I said with a grin. "Good, because I'm the best maid to ever honor." She said then settled in next to me. "Goodnight, Ki." I said then turned to my side. "Goodnight, V." She said then turned on her side.
We slept for what felt like five minutes before Ki's alarm was going off. "Fucking hell." Ki groaned as I covered my face with my hands.
"What if we just don't go." She said as I pulled myself out of bed. "Come on." I said then got up and went to my suitcase. I grabbed the merch we were supposed to wear then went into the bathroom to get ready.
I braided my hair into two French braids then brushed my teeth and washed my face. I wasn't going to bother with makeup so I just got dressed and walked out of the bathroom. "You're turn." I said then flopped onto the bed.
"I fucking hate waking up early." She groaned then trudged towards the bathroom. I laid there for a few seconds before there was a light knock on the door.
"Come in." I said quietly then sat up. "Hey, are you guys almost ready?" Colby asked as I nodded. "Yeah, Ki is getting ready." I said with a yawn. "I'm not wearing makeup so I'm ready." I said as he grinned.
"You look beautiful." He said as I chuckled and rolled my eyes playfully. "I look like I'm sick, but thank you." I said then kissed his cheek and stood up to get my purse situated.
A couple minutes later Ki came out and looked at Colby. "I'm so mad at you right now." She said then went to put her clothes back in her suitcase.
"Oooo, big shock." Colby said sarcastically as I laughed. "Can you two get along for like five minutes." I asked as Sam came into the room. "Never." Ki said then grabbed her bag. "Let's go." She said then gestured to the door.
We all filed out of the room and went down to the car. As soon as we were actually on the road Ki fell asleep next to me. I thought I was going to be tired enough to fall asleep but the longer I was awake the more excited I was getting.
I knew it was a little weird to be so excited to go to a place where brutal murders happened but I was always so interested in it.
I was finally checking something off of the bucket list.
I decided since I couldn't sleep that I would start to research the place a little more. I wanted to be as prepared as I could be.
"What are you up to, V?" Colby asked and looked over at me. "Researching." I said causing him to laugh. "I thought you knew everything about this place." He said as I squinted at him. "You can never be too prepared." I said then looked back at my phone.
"You're right. Tell us a fact." Sam said as I hummed. "Well. The murderer had the same last name as the family he murdered but they aren't related at all." I said with a grin. "Do you think that was a motive?" Sam asked.
"I mean it could have been, but I don't think so. I'm not really sure what the motive was. I think he was just crazy. He actually murdered his mom and grandmother with an axe just months before this." I said as a chill ran down my spine.
"I'm actually nervous now." Sam said with a nervous laugh. "I think it'll be okay. Just focus on the historical aspect of this. The building probably hasn't been renovated since 1912." I said with a small smile.
"Okay, we'll focus on the historical aspect." Sam said as Colby ruffled his hair. I had to admit that reading all of this stuff was starting to trigger a nerve because I didn't know how this would effect me but I was trying to just be brave.
When we got to the house I felt my heart beating out of my chest. I didn't know if it was because I was nervous or if it was because I was already feeling the effects of the house.
"Wake up." I whispered to Ki as I shook her shoulder. "No." She said then hid her face in the window. "Come on, it's gonna be fun." I said then shook her shoulder harder.
"Ugh, fiiiine." She whined then sat up and got out of the car. I followed her lead and got out then looked up at the white house. I smiled slightly as I took in the architecture of the building.
There was nothing really all that special about it but I thought it looked so cool. It was a normal two story house with a porch connected to it. The boards were slightly faded from age and weather wear and tear.
It just looked really cool.
"Are you excited?" Colby asked quietly as I looked up at the house. "Yeah. It looks even cooler than in the pictures." I said with a smile. "Are you feeling anything yet?" He asked as I shook my head. "Not really." I said as a guy in a polo came over to us.
"Hey, guys!" He said and waved at us. "Hi, you must be Steven." Sam said and shook his hand. "That's me. You must be Sam, and you're Colby." He said and gestured to each of the boys.
"Yep. This is my fiancée Violet, and our friend Ki." Colby said and gestured to Ki and I. "Nice to meet you." He said and shook our hands. "Nice to meet you." I said quietly then looked up at the house again.
"I'm gonna take you guys on a little tour, then I'll let you guys do your thing." Steven said then started walking towards the house. Colby took my hand as we walked and squeezed it causing me to look over at him.
"Just let me know if you need to stop and go outside." Colby said quietly. "Okay, I'll let you know." I said with a smile.
As we walked I could feel the nerves building up just a little bit but I knew everything would be okay.
Or at least I hope it would.
