A couple days have passed since Colby's birthday. Things have been pretty boring since we didn't have much going on. Tonight we were going bowling with Sam, Kat, Ki, and Shawn, which was going to be fun.
My pregnancy symptoms were getting a little easier to handle since the morning sickness was starting to subside. Instead, I was constantly hungry which was a complete 180 from how I was feeling last week.
I was starting to get worried that people at work were going to catch on that I was pregnant because my scrubs were getting a little tight in the stomach.
I thought about buying new scrubs but I felt like it would be more obvious if I came in with scrubs that were too big.
"Earth to V.." Aisha said and waved her hand in front of my face as I aimlessly chewed on the pretzels in my hand. "Sorry. What's up?" I asked as she laughed. "You're always zoning out." She said as I nodded.
"Yeah, especially when I'm eating." I said with a laugh. "What's up?" I asked again as she shrugged. "I just asked if you were okay." She said as I nodded. "Yeah, I'm great. Just kinda tired." I said and shrugged.
She went to answer but was interrupted by her pager. "Shit, I gotta go. I'll see you later, V!" She said then jogged out of the room.
I waved then leaned against my locker, zoning out again as I ate my pretzels. I only had about an hour left in my shift so I put my snack away and went to go back to work.
I spent the next hour helping patients, trying to stay awake as best as I could. When I was done I packed up and made my way to my car.
I ended up calling Colby before I left so he could help keep me awake while I drove. He was pretty used to me doing this because he knew how exhausted I was constantly.
"Hey, baby. How was work?" Colby asked as I started driving home. "Fine. I'm so tired though. And hungry. Oh, I could eat an entire horse right now." I said as he laughed.
"I'll have some food ready for you when you get back. We have to leave for the date though in like 45 minutes so I don't think a nap is in your future." He said as I groaned.
"I wanna cancel." I whined as he sighed. "I mean we could but I think Ki would kill you." He said as I nodded. "She could kill me, then I could finally sleep." I said quietly.
"Don't talk like that. Maybe some food will help wake you up." He explained as I sighed. "Maybe. I'm almost home." I said with yawn. "I'm gonna stay on the phone with you until you pull into the driveway." He said as I nodded.
"Good call." I said and focused on the road. Within the next five minutes I was pulling into the driveway and getting in the house.
"She's alive." Colby said as I walked into the kitchen. "Ha." I said then took the plate he was handing me. On the plate was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in a shape that resembled a heart.
"Aw." I said as he chuckled. "I tried." He said as I kissed his cheek. "You did great. Thank you." I said then sat down at the island.
I ate my sandwich then went to go get ready even though I just wanted to take a nap. I put on a hoodie and some yoga pants since my jeans were starting to get too tight and I haven't had the chance to get any maternity jeans.
I braided my hair and did a light coating of makeup to try to get rid of the bags under my eyes.
"Wow, you look hot." Colby said as I rolled my eyes. "I look like a mess." I said as he chuckled and put his hand on my belly. "A pretty mess though." He said as I pointed towards the door.
"Go." I said as he breathed a laugh and walked out of the room. We got in the car then started making our way to the bowling alley. I ended up falling asleep for a couple minutes while Colby massaged my hand gently.
