Colby's POV
"What's going on, Chad?" I asked nervously as he rushed towards his car. "Jarrod is unhinged. He's had issues for a long time and has gotten help for it but he's been obsessed with Violet, so seeing her must have triggered something." He explained as my heart dropped.
"What do you mean?" I asked as we quickly got in his car. "I don't know how bad it is but we need to go." Chad said then started driving. "What do you mean how bad it is?!" I asked as he shook his head, not answering.
I felt like I was going to be sick as Chad sped down the road. I didn't know what he meant by how bad it was and that was what was scaring me.
When we got to the house I got out of the car, not even thinking. I didn't care what was going on in that house, I needed to get to Violet.
"Colby! Wait!" Chad yelled as I shook my head and opened the front door. "Violet?!" I screamed as I ran into the house.
I heard crying in the living room so I ran that way as Chad followed.
When I got there I saw Jarrod sitting on the ground sobbing next to Violet's lifeless body. Her face was swollen so badly that you could barely recognize her. She was bleeding from her mouth as she laid unconscious on the ground.
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?!" I screamed as I ran over to them. "I-I didn't mean to!" Jarrod sobbed as I grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him up.
"I'm going to KILL you!" I yelled and threw him against the wall, bringing my hands to his neck so I could choke him.
"Colby!" Chad yelled as the anger coursed through my veins. "You're gonna kill him!"Chad yelled as Jarrod looked at me with fear in his eyes. "That's the point." I growled and tightened my grip.
"Stop. It's not worth it." Chad said then ran over and tried to pull my hands away.
I wanted to push him away and keep doing what I was doing but he was right. Violet needed our help and I needed to stop giving my attention to Jarrod.
I clenched my jaw, then dropped Jarrod to the ground before turning towards Violet.
"Call 911." I said as Jarrod choked on the ground, trying to recover from me choking him. I sat down then pulled Violet into my lap so I could hold her.
"I'm here baby. You're gonna be okay." I whispered as I brushed her hair from her face. I grabbed her wrist and checked her pulse to make sure she was actually alive, that's how bad she looked.
"The ambulance is on the way." Chad said as Jarrod sobbed on the ground. "Stop fucking crying." I grumbled as I glared at him. "Are the police coming, too? I want him arrested." I said then looked down at Violet again.
"They are." Chad said as I nodded. "I-I didn't mean to." Jarrod said as Chad walked over to Violet and I. "I would stop talking." Chad said to Jarrod as he took Violet's hand.
I could tell Chad was disappointed in Jarrod which wasn't surprising. I hated myself for letting Violet fall into the trap that Jarrod had set.
I should have been more careful.
We sat there for a couple more minutes before the police and ambulance were here. I was getting really concerned about Violet because she didn't move once or show any signs of being able to hear us.
"Hands up!" The police officer yelled as he came into the house. Chad, Jarrod, and I all held our hands up. "It's him." I said and jutted my head towards Jarrod, who was still sobbing.
"Keep your hands up." The police officer said as he and another officer walked over to Jarrod.
I watched as they cuffed him. As soon as he was cuffed then yanked him up and pulled him out of the house.
