I sat in the nursery for a while before Nova started fussing. "Oh..It's okay, angel." I said quietly then stood up and walked over to her crib.
"Shhh...Let's not wake up sissy." I whispered then bounced her against my shoulder. "Shh.." I cooed until she calmed down. "That's my girl. Let's snuggle." I whispered then sat in the rocking chair, holding her on my chest.
"Hi." I said as she looked up me. "I love you." I said then kissed her head. I watched as she smiled up at me as she rested her head on my chest.
I smiled and rubbed her back, trying to focus on her and not on the pain that was killing me.
I knew I would have to get up soon to find my medicine but I wanted to just sit here and snuggle Nova while I could.
After a few minutes of sitting there though, Luna started to fuss. "Okay, snuggle bug. Sissy's turn." I said and carefully stood up as Nova started falling asleep in my arms.
I laid Nova in her crib, then turned to Luna. "Okay. Come here, bug." I said then pulled Luna out of her crib. "Let's snuggle." I said then sat in the rocking chair again.
I kissed Luna's head and rocked back and forth as she smiled up at me. I could feel my heart flutter as she patted her hand on my chest, smiling widely. "Oh, you're so fucking cute. I love you." I said as she cooed.
I held her for a little while before I got up and grabbed Nova again so I could hold both of them at the same time.
I was in a lot of pain but having the girls snuggling with me on my chest made everything okay. We sat there for a while before they both fell asleep on my chest as I scratched their backs gently.
I felt myself starting to fall asleep myself when Colby walked into the room. "Hi, love." He said as I opened my eyes and smiled at him.
"Hi. How'd you sleep?" I asked as he came over and gave me a kiss. "Really well, how about you? How are you feeling?" He asked as Nova fussed in my arms.
"Shhh...you want daddy?" I asked as her face scrunched. "Come here, angel." He said then pulled Nova off of my chest. "Do you know where the Vicodin is? I'm in pain." I said quietly as Colby rocked Nova.
"Shit, I think it's in the bathroom. I'll go get it. Come on Nova bear, let's go on an adventure." Colby said then bounced Nova as he walked out of the room.
I sighed and scratched Luna's back gently as she yawned and took my finger in her hand. "You're so cute." I mumbled as Colby came back into the room with a glass of water, a blue pill, and a little white pill.
"Here, babe." He said as I smiled and took the pills from him. "Thank you. What's this one?" I asked and pointed to the blue pill.
"That's your other pain pill. The one that makes you loopy." He said as I giggled. "Oh, that's fun." I said then popped it in my mouth and took the glass of water from him so I could swallow the pills.
"Do you think we should make breakfast for Sam and Kat?" Colby asked as my eyes widened. "They're still here?!" I asked as he chuckled. "Yeah, I told them they could crash here since we didn't get back until like 4am." He said as I nodded.
"Absolutely we need to make them breakfast." I said then carefully tried to stand. "Woah, let's wait until that pill starts working, yeah?" Colby asked as I shook my head.
"No time. We have to change these girls, get them fed, and make breakfast before Sam and Kat wake up." I said as he breathed a laugh.
"Alright, let's do this then." He said then carried Nova over to one of the changing tables. We quickly got the girls changed then made our way downstairs.
