Chapter 56: Showdown in Brema

Cody followed Teddy as they ran through the streets of Brema. The people opened the way for them due to their status as knights. Cliff was leaving a store when he spotted them passing by.

"What are they up to?" He asked himself out of curiosity. Without a second thought he followed the pair.

The footsteps lead the two to a back ally behind a group of flats. Cody saw a familiar figure hanging around there bouncing a ball. "Simon?" Cody called forcing the boy to turn around. The ball he was playing with hit his head before rolling away. "What are you doing here?"

Before he could reply Simon rubbed his forehead to soothe the pain. He then bent over to pick up the ball and put it in his jacket's pocket.

"I was hanging around here.e waiting for a friend." He responded with a smile. "What brings you guys here?"

"We were following a lead on a murder case and we ended up here." Teddy responded as she stepped forward. Upon hearing those words Simons eyes widened.

"Hey Simon, meet me at the usual spot. I've got something awesome to show you." The boy remembered a conversation from yesterday. I hope I'm wrong about this.

"Don't come close!" Simon shouted before stretching out his hands. "Cody do you remember that I'm good at solving puzzles?"

"Yeah, but what does it have to do with this?" Cody asked confusingly.

"What he is saying, is that this is a trap." Teddy warned. Cody turned  her way in surprise still not understanding the situation.

"What?"

"Simon did your friend tell you that you should meet them here at this time?" Teddy further enquired. Simon simply nodded as he scouted the area for any signs.

"This means that-"

"I used the footsteps to bring you here. Well my senior did, I'm just here to complete the job." Said a hooded person standing at the top of the building.

"Simon get out of here now!" Cody ordered. Simon immediately after trying to move discovered that his entire body was not responding.

"I'm afraid he can't take orders from the likes of you or from himself." The hooded person stated. "The plan was to eliminate her, but things don't always go as planned."

"Who are you?" Cody asked.

"You don't know. I guess Teddy will have to inform you on that." The person stated as they leaped from the building. Water jets erupted from their feet slowing down their descent. "Well tell him."

"Captain Lion, the vice captain of the Barefoot squad and I have been investigating the recent murders of abnormals. Through our investigations we learnt of a group called Majestic that has been silently killing abnormals all over the place."

"Why are you doing this K-" Simon stopped as red lines appeared on his face. His skin turned purple as he fell down to the cold concrete floor.

"I wanted to kill two birds with one stone. Instead I'm getting three." The person stated as he kicked the young boy. At that moment a black claw came rushing at him. With ease the hooded person evaded it.

"Leave him alone." Cody spoke as he pointed his finger at the opponent.

"Even after he attacked you way back then, you still seek to protect him?" The person stated as their hand escaped from the purple coat they were wearing. "How pathetic of you Lazy Cody!" He shouted as he threw some water projectiles at Cody and Teddy.

The two knights jumped out of the way and ran around him to avoid them. Thanks to the ally being narrow the wasn't enough room to dodge them all. Two of them hit Teddy on the right arm creating small wounds. Cody using his phantom claw deflected those that came close.

Right now Cody is the only person that can handle this guy. Meanwhile, all I need to do is get out of here with Simon. I'll get backup in the process. Teddy planned as she started running head first at the opponent.

Using her eye magic, she skillfully avoided the water projectiles thrown her way while, Cody prepared to punch them. "Water creation: water blades." The villain stated changing the shape of the projectiles. The objects spun around rapidly destroying the walls of buildings around them.

The attack cut through Cody's spell and parts of his hair before they crashed into the wall behind him.

"Freeze Frame!" Teddy shouted immobilizing everything in front of her. During this moment she evaded the attack and ran towards Simon. Before she could grab him she noticed her opponents eyes moving.

"Suprise." He stated before blasting her with water. "I bet you are wondering how I can move in your extreme magic?"

"Water magic aqua slash!" The villain shouted. "It's because of this nifty item. Those water attacks earlier had a poison that makes you become weaker gradually." He smuggishily spoke before attacking.

"Toxic downpour." Cliff chanted as he appeared from the entrance.  At that very moment Teddy deactivated her Freeze Frame before collapsing.

"Do it Cody..." She trailed off before falling unconscious.

As the downpour ended, the villain prepared for another attack. At that moment Cody punched him on the face sending him flying.

"You are under arrest!" Cliff shouted as he approached the group. All he got was a smug smile before the villain melted into a puddle of water.

Before they could do anything Teddy started acting up. Like Simon she was now blue and had trouble breathing. The two picked the pair up and ran to the nearest hospital using their enhancement spells as a boost.

"Good news everyone, I got both  of my Targets." The hooded person stated as he sat down in a restaurant in Brema. "You have to change before the civilian police are notified about our attire."

"Kenya do you think we are doing the country justice?" Another person asked.

"Yes." Kenya responded. "Killing abnormals is nothing. They forced the entire world into slavery two thousand years ago and thanks to that witch and lazy Cody they might rise up again." He continued as he looked at a nearby bin where they'd stashed a person's body.

"Let's return to the base. Our job is finished."

I don't usually describe characters because I want everyone to use their imagination. But I do occasionally define what makes them unique, such as Cody having black hair with two cow licks .
