The coronation for Rei was steadily approaching, servants and nobility rushing around alike in order to prepare for the momentous occasion. It had been too long since the country had a true ruler, subjected to a mere regent for over a decade though he was the previous queen's younger brother. Most were thrilled to have another ascend the throne, others skeptical of Rei and his intentions with the country. Still, he had proven to be talented and charming, two things important for a king to possess.

The blonde, himself, was awfully busy with pre-coronation and wedding preparations, signing for supplies, or writing letters to personally invite important nobles or close friends. Among those friends were not of any who knew (Y/n) or had previously had an interest in her. Knowing them, they wouldn't let him go through with a wedding, especially not when they desired what he had, envy seeping through their veins.

Still, Rei had much ahead of him, and he didn't have a moment of rest, resigned to completing his work during every meal of the day. (Y/n) was largely relieved at such a thing, enjoying the free time she was able to have after her lessons. It wasn't something she was able to do alone, guards watching her every step, but having the blonde away from her was a weight off her shoulders.

Of course, it was a two sided sword, one that prompted others to seek her company. Many of the nobility had gotten the news of the (h/c) haired girl's engagement to the blonde, due to many reporters noticing the giant diamond ring on her finger. They had made assumptions, and they had been correct, playing right into the blonde's hands. News was spreading all over the country like wildfire, the rest of the world following suit, which seemed largely interested in the male's reasoning. After all, his mother, aunt, and grandmother had all married wealthy nobles or businessmen, but (Y/n) was a foreigner and hadn't come from any money at all.

Perhaps it was normal, considering that the blonde's father was born from the same country as she was, but it was clear Rei was marrying for love and not for political or economical benefit. Such a thing would prompt the curiosity of those who took interest in their monarch's fascination with her and judging off of the country's love for their royalty, that was practically everyone in the country. She had been subjected to dodging reporters and photographers, the guards trailing her warding them off. Still, that didn't prevent or deter their presence enough to give the (h/c) haired girl peace.

"How did you meet his majesty?" a noble girl said, approaching the girl with an idolizing expression.

"I just bet it was love at first sight," another exclaimed, her cheeks a rosy color, "He is a prince, so it must have been like the fairy tales! I bet he proposed on the spot!"

"You must have been so happy, my lady! His highness is so handsome and regal!"

The girls continued girling over the male, theorizing how he had met her or how he had fallen for her. They weren't anywhere near the truth. The male was more akin to a horror story than a fairy tale. There wasn't anything but a sickening obsession and twisted darkness in him hidden by a beautiful mask. They didn't understand what he had done or who he had disposed of just to have fun or release his frustrations. They didn't understand anything, and the (h/c) haired girl couldn't stand it. The more they went on and on about Rei and how incredible he was, (Y/n)'s anger just continued to boil until she finally erupted.

"Enough!" she said, stomping down her foot to quiet the girls in front of her, "He's a monster! I hate him, I hate him, I hate him! There's...There's just no way I could...love him!"

A silence washed over the girls, every person in the area freezing at the girl's words. They weren't sure if she was joking or whether she was just temporarily frustrated with him, finding her words to be treasonous nonetheless. Some turned down their nose at her, thinking her an ignorant and ungrateful foreigner, undeserving of the throne or the future king. Others simply stared at her, hoping she would say something to negate her statements.
