"Ow!"
I stopped as I was in the middle of running down the stairs when Alec yelled.
"Dad what the hell?!" Alec yelled. "I was sleeping!"
Oh shit.
"Study room, now!"
I heard the sound of someone quickly getting off the floor and I continued down the stairs.
I heard Alec leave the reception room, only to
walk across the hall and entering the study, but I couldn't see him because the hallway was just around the corner.
"Dad!" I called out, making my way to the study just as dad left the reception room. "What're you doing? It's not a big deal."
"Sabrina, go to bed."
I shook my head, folding my arms over my chest.
"I'd rather make sure you don't kill my brother."
Dad didn't say anything. He looked at me for another moment before walking into the study, and I followed.
Alec had taken place on the sofa.
"Your sister is seventeen years old." Dad said, sounding rather angry as he leaned back against the desk and grabbed the edges while looking at his oldest son. "You and your friends are between twenty-one and twenty-three. Do you really think it is appropriate for them to treat your sister the way they've been doing?"
"What are you talking about?!" Alec seemed upset. "They may joke around but—"
"Joke around?" Dad laughed. "Alright..."
Dad folded his arms over his chest.
"Do you think Bina finds it funny when your adult friends hit on her?" He asked. "Or when they call her a slut... a whore?"
"I—"
"And while they harass her, you watch. You're not jumping in to defend your sister and you're just acting like nothing?"
Alec didn't respond. He looked at the floor as he let out a sigh.
"What's going on?" Mum's voice filled the room as she walked into the study. "George, what are you—"
"Alec's friends have been harassing Bina when they're here." Dad said before looking at me. "When was the last time they said something to you."
Mum looked at me too, her lips parted as if she didn't know what to say.
"Uh— during Easter." I said and ran a hand to the nape of my neck. "But it's not— it isn't a big deal. I promise. It's just—"
"No." Dad shook his head. "It is a big deal."
He then looked at Alec.
"Your mother and I raised you to have respect for women and to treat them properly. That also means stepping in when someone else treats them with disrespect." He said. "We also raised you four to stand up for each other so I have no clue as to why you'd let your grown friends sexualise your teenage sister. That is not what we raised you to do."
"Why does it even matter?" Alec raised his voice, gesturing towards me. "She's gay. She's clearly not interested so she can just ignore them!"
Mum and dad looked at each other, almost in disbelief while I stared at the ground.
"That is not what you're gonna do." Mum spoke. "Your sister came out today and you decide to use her sexuality to justify your friends sexualising a teenage girl? Are you absolutely mad?! Who are you, because this is not the son we spent eighteen years raising!"
