It's actually almost 3am.

I should be asleep.

-

Dinner went surprisingly well.

Mum and Uncle William didn't exchange many words but for the most parts, it was fun and different topics were thrown out into the open while we'd laugh and discuss random shit.

Then during the evening, my uncles went home along with my cousins, Theo included, and I went upstairs to my bedroom

Alec had fallen asleep on the sofa and mum had spread a blanket over his body.

About an hour after they had left, I could hear the front door slam shut and I knew it was dad.

I was laying with my back on the bed, arse and legs against the wall while hovering my phone over my face, scrolling through the many messages on messenger.

Gryffindor house has its own group chat, but only for students thirteen or older because that's the age you're allowed to have Facebook.

All houses had their own group. It was only used during holidays, seeing as phones aren't allowed at Hogwarts.

I heard footsteps on the stairs before there was a knock on my door. My door wasn't closed so I simply turned my head to look at dad quickly, then looked at my phone again.

"Where'd you go?" I asked, continuing to school through the messages before I answered the latest one.

"I ate dinner with Fred, Blake and Robin." He told me. "Your uncle helped me realise that I was overreacting."

I scoffed.

"Nah, you just don't want me to know who I am or where I come from." I said. "The only thing
I know about me is that I'm mixed but I'm white-passing... oh, and that I was adopted by a pair of wonderful people who's raised me with nothing but love."

I swung my legs down from the wall and over the edge of the bed, sitting up.

"I appreciate everything that you and mum have ever done for me." I said. "You're my parents. You always will be. I just want the chance to meet one of the people I came from. That doesn't mean I'll leave though."

"No, I know darling." He sighed and walked over to sit down next to me. "Of course you need to meet him and ask whatever questions you have. Some things, your mum and I won't be able to answer, but I'm sure he has them."

I looked down at my lap as I played with a fold on my jeans.

"Dad?" I asked after a moment of silence, waiting for him to hum in response before I continued. "You're not homophobic, are you?"

I mean... I need to make sure.

I had already come out to four people today... mum knew so I wanted to tell dad to.

"I sure hope I haven't given you the impression that I am." He said. "Why're you asking me that?"

I shrugged and looked at him.

"Alright, so I trapped Uncle William and mum by writing him a letter that supposedly was from mum... but I got him to show up..."

"Will was here?"

"He was." I nodded. "And I kind of came out to mum, uncle William and Alec to prevent mum from grounding me. Uncle Marco already knew because I came out to him last week..."

Dad looked at me, listening to me as I explained, but by now I was talking fast, rambling.

"My point is that I'm gay." I said. "And I think I'm gonna want to start being out and open about it. I don't want to be in the closet any longer."

When I looked at dad again, he smiled and wrapped an arm around me, pulling me into his embrace.

"I'm proud of your, Bina." He whispered and pressed a kiss to my head. "That's why... of course—"

He let out a laugh and I looked at him while he unwrapped his arm from around me.

"You wanted a job at my shop because of Hannah." He said. "You had a coughing fit when I mentioned I hired her, then you show up and talk to her and suddenly you want a job there."

I groaned as I laid back on my bed.

"You know she's dating James, right?"

"Yes." I sighed out of annoyance. "I'm well aware of that. She's straight too... apparently. Even though she gives off major lesbian vibes."

"How does someone give off... vibes?"

I sat up again.

"Well, it's like with mum. It's pretty obvious to anyone with a gaydar that she's bi. Especially looking at pictures from when she was my age."

Dad raised his eyebrows at me, obviously not understanding my point.

"You know, that one photo you took of her where she has bangs, a knife between her fingers and her tongue stuck out at the camera?" I asked. "There's no way someone with a gaydar will look at that and think she's straight."

He chuckled, shaking his head at me.

"And with uncle Fred for an example... he's straight when it comes to romance but he likes having sex with men." I said. "That's why it never worked out with Lee. It was only the sex he could use."

"So you've got a gaydar?" Dad asked. "How about Alec? What would your guess be?"

"Straight." I said immediately. "Probably a tad transphobic without knowing it. He'd probably use 'super straight' to identify himself as a joke, not knowing what it is because he refuses to educate himself."

I rolled my eyes at the thought.

"What's that? Super straight?"

"It's ignorant people who're straight but they don't want to date a transgender person." I said. "It's ridiculous. A trans woman is a woman just like a trans man is a man."

Dad nodded slowly.

"And you think Alec would be transphobic?"

"Dunno." I shrugged. "I hope not, but he tends to just follow along with whatever his friends do, and his friends are disgusting. They love pushing boundaries."

Dad frowned, turning his body towards me a bit more.

"They haven't done anything, have they?"

"What?" I asked, then realising what he meant. "No! Gosh no... but whenever they're around, they either flirt with me, call me hot or sexualise me."

"They sexualise you?"

I shrugged.

"It's not that big of a deal." I said. "Just one of them calling me a slut or a whore when I turn him down. He always comes with suggestions like; hey Sabrina. Come here and we can all have our turn with you."

Again, I rolled my eyes, folding my arms over my chest.

"And Alec doesn't say shit to them." I said. "As I said... he tends to just go along with it and ignore it."

Dad stood up, then rushed out of the room before I got to react.

"Alec Arthur Silverberry-Weasley!" He yelled through the house and the anger was visible in his voice. "Get your arse off that sofa and explain yourself!"

"Wait, no... dad!" I called, running out into the hallway but dad had already made his way down the stairs. "I said it wasn't a big deal!"
