Sabrina
I tapped my fingers against the table as we waited for aunt Charlotte to get here. She was joining us for dinner as well as her girlfriend.
Mum had cooked.
I was sat at the table with Mia and Eli while mum was on the phone in the foyer. Dad was finishing up in the study and Alec wasn't here.
I was on my phone.
There was nothing else to do. We were waiting for Charlotte and her girlfriend to arrive so we could eat.
Oh... and Alec too. There was a plate for him but we didn't even know if he was going to be here.
Sometimes he'd disappear for days at a time.
It was just Alec being Alec.
"Alright..." mum let out a heavy breath as she walked into the room, phone in had. "...that was Blake. She's coming home tomorrow."
Aunt Blake is married to Uncle Fred. She's been in Russia for two months for work.
"Can I see your schedule for school?" Mia asked and being the only one still in school, I looked up to see her already looking at me.
"Why?"
"What do you mean; why?" She laughed. "I'm curious. I don't remember the classes you take."
I shrugged.
"I've got it written down on my phone." I said as I entered my notes before handing the phone over to my older sister.
She counted them, then looked at me.
"You've got ten NEWTs?" She asked. "Ten? I had four."
"I had three." Eli scoffed.
"What's wrong with having three?" Dad asked as he entered the dining room. "I had three. Fred had three."
"Yeah but you knew what you wanted to do." I said. "And you mixed the six NEWTs that would help you the most. You each took three."
Dad walked over to take his usual seat at the table.
"In just a few days, we'll find out if you've made head girl." Dad said with a grin as he tapped his fingers against the armrest of his chair.
I hummed.
"I probably won't."
"Don't say that—"
"Nah she's right." Eli said with a teasing grin. "And if she does, she'll probably have the badge taken like mum did."
I stuck my tongue out at him, causing him to flip me off.
"Hey, dad." I said and looked at him. "Can I get a tattoo?"
"A tattoo?" He asked. "No... when you turn eighteen, you can but until then, it's illegal."
I rolled my eyes.
"What do you want tattooed?"
I shrugged.
"I'd like a cross that symbolises grandpa's life." I said. "Perhaps with his date of birth and date of death on either side."
Dad nodded slowly.
"Where do you want it?" Eli asked as he reached over the table to grab a slice of breath but dad grabbed his wrist and forced his hand away.
"Do you see Charlotte or her girlfriend anywhere near the table?"
"I don't even know what her girlfriend looks like."
"Well, Eli when you see an unfamiliar woman walk into the dining room, assume that it's her." Mia said and Eli rolled his eyes before looking at me. "So... where do you want the tattoo?"
"I have absolutely no idea."
Mia snickered, and then the doorbell rang.
"Allie!" Dad called. "You're closest to the door."
"I'll cut off your dick!" Mum yelled back immediately.
Dad paused, then looked towards the foyer.
"Believe it or not... she tried to do that when we were twenty-one." Dad breathed and pushed his chair back as he stood up.
Thanks for that piece of information.
Dad walked into the foyer and Eli and I broke into laughter while Mia handed me my phone back after finishing watching my schedule.
"You should get it on your calves." Mia told me. "I've got several tattoos and that's the one that hurt the least."
Mia has our deceased dogs paw print tattooed on her calf.
Our dog was named Chloe. She died in two-thousand and eight which is thirteen years ago. I was five.
She was mum's emotional support dog. She only turned eleven before she died.
"I don't like calf tattoos." I said and scrunched up my nose. "Perhaps my wrist... or my ankle."
Dad actually has tattoos as well. Only four though. He's got our names written across his rib cage.
Alec Arthur.
Mia Angelina.
Eli Marcus.
Sabrina Magdalena. And then there's mum. She has a sleeve tattoo on her right arm. A branch where four different flowers grow from.
The flower from the month we were adopted in along as the twins birth flower.
Alec was born in December of ninety-nine but he was adopted in January of two-thousand. The flower for January is a carnation so mum got that tattooed.
The twins were born also in December but in two-thousand and one and the birth flower for December is a narcissus so she got two of those tattooed, wrapping around the branch from either side.
Lastly, there's me. I was born in November of two-thousand and three but they got me home in February of two-thousand and five when I was nearly fifteen months old.
The flower for February is a violet so mum added that one.
She also has dads birth flower wrapped around the branch.
A daisy.
Chatter coming from the foyer, pulled me from my thoughts and I looked towards it to see aunt Charlotte walk through, holding the hand of a woman who was about as tall as her, but with long light blue hair, and bright blue eyes.
She had a lip ring, and her whole face seemed so bright as she smiled while they talked to mum, the three walking into the room.
Aunt Charlotte laid eyes on the three of us and then her smile spread.
"This is my nieces and my youngest nephew out of Allie's children." She said. "Mia and Eli are twins and that's Sabrina..."
"It's really nice to meet you." The woman smiled. "I'm Veronica."
Soon after, we all sat and ate, but Alec still hadn't arrived so the empty plate stood empty by his seat.
"So, you're gay." I said, looking at my aunt and her girlfriend. "Are you gay? Bisexual? Pansexual?"
Aunt Charlotte laughed.
"We're both gay, Bree."
"And when did you come out?" I asked. "Because I just came out and it feels so freeing!"
Charlotte and Veronica exchanged a look, both smiling.
"I came out when I was twenty-one." Veronica told me. "A bit late compared to Char."
"You came out when you were twelve, right?" I asked my aunt who hummed.
"I did. I went to talk to your mum but she was asleep so instead I talked to your dad, and I told him that I was gay." Aunt Charlotte said. "I was actually in love with Ginny at the same."
"No way! You liked aunt Ginny?"
"I did." She chuckled. "But she was dating guys so that kind of faded away with time. Then around when the war peeked, I liked Luna Lovegood but then after the war, her and Neville Longbottom got together for a short while. I finished school, left the country and I met Veronica."
