One month later
"Ayyy!" I grinned, dancing my way through the doors. "I'm a free woman!"
Adriana laughed and I met her in a hug, squeezing the life out of her.
She had no idea I had become addicted to drugs, but she had come visited me throughout my rehab stay and it was nice getting to see her.
My family visited me too from time to time and then there was Naomi.
She visited me every single time there was visiting hours. She came with my family, she came with Adriana, she came alone.
Today, she wasn't here to greet me as I got out of rehab. She started her job today. She worked an office job at the ministry.
"Mum's cooked your favourite." Dad said from behind me, holding my bag. "Do you want to join us, Adriana?"
"Oh... yeah alright. I'd like that." Adriana nodded and I wrapped my arm around her shoulders, pressing a kiss to her temple.
"And then we're gonna grab a bottle of vodka from the cellar and—"
"Sabrina." Dad said and I looked at him, seeing him shake his head.
"What? I was in rehab for drug abuse, not alcohol abuse."
Dad rolled his eyes at me and started walking, so we could find a place where it was safe to apparate without muggles hearing.
"You realise that drug addicts have a higher chance at becoming addicted to other stuff like alcohol, right?" Adriana asked as we walked after my dad, my arm around her shoulders and hers around my back.
"Does that mean I can never drink?"
"I just think you should wait." She told me. "You've got free therapy for the next twelve months and when you're better, I think it would be safer than if you went home and started drinking now."
I smiled down at Adriana.
"You care about me." I gasped, and she laughed.
"Are you sad that Naomi wasn't there to greet you?" She asked me, and I let out a sigh, shrugging.
"A little, but it's her first day on the job so..."
"What did she end up working with?" Adriana asked. "You mentioned she wanted to become an Arithmancier?"
I smiled a little at the thought of the conversation I had with Naomi when I first met her.
I asked her what she wanted to do after school and I learned that she loved Arithmancy, and she was good at it too.
"She took a position as a Research Assistant at the ministry." I said. "She gets the academic tasks which she enjoys, especially when Arithmancy is involved."
"That sounds nice." Adriana smiled. "What about you then? What do you want to work with?"
I shrugged.
"I don't think I can get many jobs with the grades I ended Hogwarts with, but dad's promised to find something for me." I said. "I just need to make my own money so I can move out."
It was nice out today. It was quite warm so I wasn't wearing a jacket. It was July and I felt a little bummed that I hadn't been to the beach yet this year, but I still had August.
"Alright, when we get home, do not sneak up on mum." Dad turned to me as we reached the alleyway. "She's cooking and she's already very excited as it is. She's probably gonna cry if anything goes wrong."
"Why do you think I'd sneak up on mum?"
Dad raised his eyebrows at me, and I chuckled.
"Alright, I won't."
