Warning: memories of rape

My first day at my new job.

When I got home and told Naomi the news, she sat with Willow. Naomi started cheering and clapped her hands one time which caused Willow to keep clapping hers while laughing.

The day had been great so far. I took orders for people who were here to eat, I gave the orders to the kitchen and then I served the food when it was ready.

Everything had been great until I approached a table and realised who it was before I could turn around and give the job to one of the other waitresses.

Adriana and Theodore stared up at me.

Great... my first day and I meet these two.

I decided to ignore them and just act professional.

"Hi. I'm Sabrina and I'll be your waitress today. Are you ready to order?"

Adriana stared at me with her lips slightly parted, but Theodore's face changed as he leaned back in his seat.

"I think we should start off with drinks, yeah?" He asked and looked at Adriana for confirmation, but she just looked down at the table. "Two vodka lemon."

I stared at him for a moment before sighing and dropping my arms by my side, one holding the notepad and the other holding the pen.

"I'll get you another waitress." I said and turned to leave when Theodore grabbed my wrist with so much force that I felt the panic rise inside of me.

All I saw was me being pinned to the bed. All I saw was Tomas face in front of mine as he held me down.

"Why?" Theodore smiled sweetly at me. "We're perfectly happy with you."

I stared down at his hand that was wrapped around my wrist, and then I looked at his face again.

"I'm not allowed to serve alcohol."

His eyes widened slightly but his smile was still there. He knew exactly what he was doing.

"Right. How stupid of me. Are you sure my dad hired you? I don't see the reason for him having a junky run around playing waitress."

I clenched my jaw and glanced at his hand again, warning him to remove it.

"Your baby is gonna grow up a fucking retard because of all the drugs you must've been doing while pregnant."

"Theo—" Adriana said, but Theodore held up a hand to shut her up, his eyes never leaving me.

"Get out of my bar." Uncle William's voice caused me to turn my head and see him right next to me which I hadn't noticed.

Theodore let go of my wrist and leaned back in his seat.

"Hi dad. Adri and I were just getting some lunch."

"And you'll be getting that elsewhere." William said while I rubbed my wrist and looked at it, seeing the reddening of my skin.

"Why? We've got every right to be in here." Theodore said. "Are you actually going to kick out your own son."

"My son doesn't behave like that." William said and gestured towards me. "Adriana is more than welcome to stay, but you Theodore, you're leaving."

Theodore stood up, staring right at his father before turning to Adriana.

"C'mon. We're leaving this shit hole." He said. "We'll find something else."

He held out his hand and Adriana grabbed it before he led the way out of the leaky cauldron.

My uncle turned to me and placed a hand on my upper arm in a way to make me look at him.

"You okay?"

I didn't answer. I kept rubbing my wrist and my uncle gently took a hold of it before sighing.

"Go home, Sabrina. Take the rest of the day off and—"

"What? No." I looked up at him and stepped back. "It's my first day and I'm gonna finish it. I just need to use the restroom for a second."

I marched across the room and into the back, making my way into the employees bathroom. I shut the door and locked it behind me before pacing back and forth the room, tugging at my shirt.

I leaned back against the wall, staring at myself in the mirror while clutching my shirt in my hand.

I ran both hands over my face, taking a deep breath.

"Tomas, please..."

I tugged at my hair, trying to get the flashes to go away. I didn't want to think about it. Not now.

"Stop, it hurts, stop..."

I slid down the wall until I sat on the floor, tugging at my hair so hard that it was hurting.

His face looked pained as he forced himself on me, keeping my wrist pinned on either side of my head.

I cried, and tilted my head back, staring up at the ceiling.

I calmed down and I just let it happen, hoping he would be finished soon.

I pulled my phone from my pocket, unlocking it. My hands were shaking and my chest was hurting. I needed to focus on something else.

I noticed a new message from Naomi. Well, it wasn't exactly new. It was from this morning about ten minutes after I left for work.

It was a picture of Willow.

Naomi had set it up so that it looked like Willow was taking a selfie, and I couldn't help but laugh out of joy at her little face.

Her eyes were wide and she stared at the camera with a surprised look on her face.

I leaned my head back against the wall, staring at my daughter's picture while letting out a deep breath.

Without thinking, I dialled Naomi's number and pressed my phone to my ear while staring up at the ceiling.

Only a couple of seconds passed before she answered it.

"Hi babe. Are you on your break?"

"Sort of."

"Sort of?"

"I'm in the bathroom." I breathed. "I just wanted to call you and hear your voice."

"Yeah?" She asked with a soft chuckle. "You're okay, right?"

"I just want you to know how much I love you." I said, my voice almost a whisper.

"Sabrina, what's wrong? Talk to me."

"It's... I don't know, I don't want to say on the phone. I'll tell you when I get home."

"You know I'm not home until five. I have a lot of classes today."

"I know." I said. "Then I'll tell you when you get home."

Naomi was quiet for a moment. I raked a hand through my hair, then shut my eyes as I pinched the bridge of my nose.

"I ran into Adriana and Theodore." I said, and heard Naomi exhale.

"Fuck... what happened, are you okay?"

"I don't know. Theodore said some things and it threw me off. My uncle wants me to go home but it's my first day. I need to get through it 'till the end. Then I can relax when I get home."

"Yeah... are you sure you'll be able to continue for the day? You know how you get when a thing puts you down like this."

"It's fine, Omi."

"So you haven't had any flashbacks?" She asked. "You have, haven't you? That's why you're in the bathroom. Sabrina for fuck sake. Why don't you bring this up with your therapist?"

"Because it's fine, Naomi. I'm fine."

"Apparently not. Babe, I want to help you but I can only do that if you let me. Please let me."

I scratched my neck, staring right ahead before shaking my head, letting out a frustrated laugh.

"We'll talk later." I said. "I love you."
