My birth dad never showed up.

I was supposed to meet him at a cafe but now it was getting pathetic. Dad had gone back home after I told him to but he was picking me up at four.

He told me he was hoping to have the car fixed so he could pick me up in that, then we'd go for ice cream like we did when I was younger.

But now I sat here, with a glass of iced tea that I bought for myself, waiting for my birth father who was supposed to have been here an hour ago.

I kept looking at the clock on the wall then at my phone, trying to keep back my tears as he once again let me down.

I had never met the man but he had still let me down once. Guess that's why he gave me up for adoption. He wanted nothing to do with me.

I picked up my phone when I received a message from dad.

'Fixed the car. I'll be there at four!"

I looked up at the clock. An hour and five minutes had passed.

'Can you pick me up now?"

I couldn't apparate home. Apparition was a loud form of transportation so even if I could find somewhere where no one could see, I couldn't guarantee that no one could hear.

Shortly after my dad saw the message, he called me, and the picture of him and mum that is the picture of the both of them on my phone, showed up along with his display name.

Father ginger.

I picked up the phone and pressed it to my ear while I looked at the table.

"Did something happen?" Dad asked as the first thing. "Did you run out of things to talk about?"

I sighed and ran my finger around the rim of the glass in front of me.

"He didn't show."

There was a pause, then I heard dad sigh. I didn't want him to pity me and I didn't want to take any time out of his day, but I needed my dad right now.

"Oh darling... I'm sorry, Bina. He sounded so excited to meet you."

"Well, turns out he wasn't."

I heard some shuffling at the other end, something that sounded like keys... then a door that slammed.

"I'm leaving now. I'll be at the cafe in ten to fifteen minutes, yeah?"

"I'll see you soon." I said before I hung up and put the phone in front of me. I picked up my glass of iced tea and took a sip, sighing.

I looked out of the window as I brought a hand up to my face and ran my thumb across my bottom lip.

My phone lit up again, but this time it was James calling me.

This can't be good.

James doesn't call me... like ever.

I picked up my phone and looked at it. His picture in my phone was a donkey that was smoking weed.

"I don't have time right now, James." I said as I picked up the phone and pressed it to my ear.

"You kissed my girlfriend?!"

Oh fuck.

"I'm sorry?"

"You kissed her! You kissed Hannah! I fucking told you to stay out of my relationship and you do that by kissing her?!"

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair before resting my elbow against the table.
