I couldn't sleep the first night back.

I could hear Alec's snoring through the wall, and mum and dad yelling at each other in their bedroom.

I kept tossing and turning, sighing at the fact that I simply could not fall asleep.

Too many thoughts were filling my head.

I had no idea what had happened while I was at school. When I was home for Easter, they weren't fighting like this, but now they seemed to hate each other.

It worried me.

They're my parents.

My siblings don't really seem to care. Alec the least. All he cares about is his lame friends and his incredibly hot girlfriend.

He's been dating this girl named Sarah for the past two years. Every time I'm home, he finds some way to sneak her in when he thinks no one knows, but everyone knows.

Alec's foot probably hit against the wall, because suddenly a knock came from it, making me jump.

Ugh.

I pulled my duvet off my body, jumping out of bed. I swung the door open on my way into the hallway, walking to the next door and barged in, which made Alec wake with a grunt, relaxing when his eyes landed on me.

"The fuck are you doing, Bree?"

"You're snoring and bumping your foot into the fucking wall."

He shrugged and pulled his duvet over his shoulders, closing his eyes while burying his head in his pillow.

"I don't care. You should be asleep."

"How am I supposed to do that with mum and dad fighting just down the hallway?"

Instead of answering, he turned onto his other side, turning his back to me. I rolled my eyes but left the room, closing the door behind me, then I marched across the hallway to Mia's room.

Her and Eli were staying the night.

I opened the door, surprised that the light was on. My eyes landed on Mia who sat in her bed, looking at me, paused in the middle of painting her nails.

She was fully dressed, sitting against the floor.

"What's up?" She asked before nodding towards the wall between her and our parents room. "Can't sleep 'cos of them?"

I shook my head.

"Yeah." She breathed, patting the spot next to her. "Neither can I."

I closed the door behind me before joining my older sister on her bed.

"When did they start fighting?"

Mia glanced at me before she reached for her black nail polish and gave it to me so I could paint my nails too.

"A few weeks ago." She said. "Eli and I don't live here anymore so we don't notice it as much, but Alec informs us of what's going on."

I hummed, opening the bottle of nail polish before starting to apply it to my nails.

"How's school?" Mia asked. "Do you think you'll make head girl?"

"Me?" I asked, letting out a scoff. "...no."

"Why not?"

"Have you met me?" I asked. "There's no way."

"Well, have you met mum?" She chuckled. "You're basically the same person and she made head girl."

"She also had her badge taken."

Once I finished my nails, the door opened and Eli walked in, closing the door behind him once he saw us.
