Warning: harassment
With a sigh, I stepped out from my mum's building after working a shift.
I shoved my hands into the pockets of my trousers as I walked, watching the busy people walk past — the children running to show their parents something, or running to get somewhere.
I made a lot of coffee for mum today. She doesn't like the taste but it keeps her awake and she says that that's what she needs. I also scheduled and rescheduled a lot of her meetings.
She wasn't home for dinner tonight. She had a long meeting in New York.
But now I was heading home — maybe stopping by my dads shop first.
I was also meeting up with Adriana later. She needed a break from her father so we were gonna go watch a movie without Theo for once.
I love my cousin but he can be a pain in the arse so sometimes I like to just hang out with Adri.
When I came to the alley that led down to Knockturn alley, I stopped to look at the group of people standing down there by Borgin and Burkes.
Alec and his friends.
Uh...
I looked around before I looked towards them again, considering whether or not I should go down there and confront Alec, or just go straight to my dad.
Knockturn Alley isn't exactly safe.
After the war especially, Death Eaters used it as a way to hide and be themselves without anyone from the good side judging them.
We've been banned from going there ever since we were small. Of course, Alec is an adult and the rules no longer applies to him, but still...
Dad would kill him if he knew Alec spent his free time down there.
My feet moved before I got to think, and then I found myself walking towards them.
"Alec!"
I got the attention of all five guys and Alec sighed.
"Go home, Sabrina."
"What are you doing here?" I asked. "You can't be hanging around Knockturn alley."
"Hey Breena." An annoying voice hit my ear but I simply glanced at Ethan before looking at my brother again.
"I can't?" He asked. "I'm twenty-one, Sabrina... you're seventeen. You can't tell me what to do."
"He's a big guy, Breena." Tomas commented as he placed an arm over Alec's shoulder.
Don't snap at them.
I pulled a hand out of my pocket to run it through my hair out of frustration before clenching it by my side.
"Alec..."
"Let him be, Breena." Ethan's voice spoke again.
I hated the way they used my nickname. I hated how they said it as if it was sugar on their tongues.
"Just go home, Sabrina." Alec said, raising his eyebrows at me before bringing his cigarette up to his lips.
I marched over and grabbed it from him, extinguishing it on the wall. Then I turned around and threw it on the ground, walking back towards Diagon Alley, but Ethan stepped in front of me.
I looked up at him.
"Get out of my way."
He didn't budge. He brought his own cigarette up to his lips while staring down at me.
"Alec?" I turned to look at my brother. "Tell him to get out of my way."
But Alec didn't say anything. He stared at the ground, not wanting to meet my eyes.
I looked at Ethan again as a smile spread across his face. He wiggled his eyebrows at me and when I tried to shove him away, he wrapped an arm around me, pushing me back and before I got to react, him, Tomas, Denis and Justin had surrounded me.
"This isn't fucking funny!"
"No one thinks it's funny, Breena." Justin snickered.
"Alec told us you had a nice chat with your father." Ethan said. "Something about us harassing you, am I right?"
Oh shit.
"Alec!" I shouted, looking towards my brother who was now leaning against the wall, still staring at the ground without reacting. "Alec for fuck sake! Tell them to back off!"
He didn't respond. He didn't react. Didn't say anything to them — not even while knowing that they had me surrounded, knowing the way they had been acting towards me in the past.
"You look pretty." Denis spoke. "Hot."
I quickly started buttoning the top buttons in my shirt. The four top buttons had been left open so you could see my cleavage and my black lace bra.
That was how I felt comfortable but now I certainly didn't. Not with them looking at me like I was food.
"No, don't do that—" Ethan reached for my wrist to stop me from closing the buttons. His eyes searched my face before dropping to my chest, and I felt uncomfortable as I tried to back up, trying to rip my wrist from him at the same time. "...why hide that from us, eh? All we want to do is appreciate your body. Why is that so wrong?"
"Why don't you find someone who's your age?" I asked. "Someone who actually wants you, someone who's consented? Oh... and someone who's not a lesbian!"
Ethan raised an eyebrow at me before he let go of my wrist, shoving me back into the circle.
"Oh, guys... she's a lesbian!" He laughed and the others joined him. "What girls won't do for attention."
"You know what? Fuck you!" I spat. "All of you! I'm out of here!"
I tried to push past Tomas who was now the one blocking the way back to Diagon Alley, but he grabbed onto both of my wrists, shoving me right back in.
"Alec!" I called again. "Please!"
"Why do you keep calling for Alec, huh?" Ethan asked. "He doesn't care about you, do you get that? He thinks you're an insufferable piece of shit who's only made his life worse since you entered it. Why should he care if we give you a lesson or two?"
I reached into my back pocket, pulling out the pocket knife my mum gave me. I opened it, taking a few steps towards Ethan.
"Oh, that's cute." He laughed. "You've got a knife."
Ethan opened his hand and a second later, my knife flew out of my hand and landed in his. Then the knife simply vanished into thin air.
I had no idea he could do wand-less magic.
"Why don't you take that shirt off, yeah?" Ethan asked. "Show us what you got under there."
"You're fucking insane."
He scoffed.
"You say you're a lesbian, right?" He asked. "Bet you just haven't fucked the right guy yet."
"And who would that be?" I asked. "You? Or perhaps Tomas? Denis? Or did you mean Justin?"
Ethan took a step towards me and his eyes fell to my cleavage again.
I tried buttoning them again, only for Ethan to walk towards me with fast steps. I started backing up, feeling my heart race as fear overtook my body.
Though he didn't get to anything before Eli came running down the alley, throwing a punch to Ethan's jaw.
"If you ever lay a hand on her, you will have a big fucking problem on your back!" He yelled, punching Ethan again as he was laying on the ground.
Eli turned to the three other guys and he looked so angry, breathing heavily which made them automatically back up before running off and further into knockturn alley.
"Bree, we're leaving." Eli said, nodding towards the alley that led back to Diagon Alley. He held out his hand and I hurried over to take it, before he looked towards Alec. "And you... rot in fucking hell."
