I was released from the hospital that same day, but I stayed to be by Naomi's side.
Mum had taken my daughter home so I could focus on this, but I felt bad. I hadn't really had a chance to bond with my daughter yet, but at the same time, I didn't think I could until Naomi was out of the hospital.
A few days later, she finally got released, and I was there, as well as her grandmother and her younger brother.
"I went and got you a new phone." Mary who was her grandmother, smiled as she handed Naomi an iPhone box. "I heard the other one was ruined."
Naomi had told how Emmanuel had smashed her phone so no one could locate her, and so she couldn't contact anyone.
"Thank you Nan." Naomi smiled, hugging her.
Then she looked at her sixteen-year-old brother.
"Look dumbass. I've got a newer phone than you." She teased him before ruffling his hair.
"Oh piss off!" Sean spoke. "Can we go home now? Nan promised pizza."
"Of course we can." Mary said. "You two go ahead. I just want to have a quick word with Sabrina."
At that, I raised my eyebrows while Naomi turned to look at me, then at her grandmother.
"Nan, please don't..."
"I just want to talk, Naomi."
"Omi, it's okay." I smiled at her. "We'll be out in a minute."
Naomi nodded and walked over, giving me a hug before she followed her brother out of the hospital.
Mary then turned to me.
"How are you holding up?" She asked me.
"I don't know, honestly. It's been what— five days? I don't think I've started processing it yet. I have nightmares though... they aren't that fun."
"No, I can imagine." Mary sighed. "Sabrina, I just want to apologise. When Naomi first went missing, I knew she had gone looking for you, so I blamed you for a while, and I'm sorry for that. I am also sorry for trying to get her to stop seeing you after you were in rehab."
"No, it's okay. I get it. You were trying to protect her. I wouldn't want my child to run around with drug addicts either." I said. "Just know that I love your granddaughter very much and I would do anything for her."
Mary smiled.
"I know."

The moment I stepped inside of the house, I froze. I stared into the foyer, watching every detail of my home while my eyes teared up.
"I'm really sorry, Bree. I thought it was Naomi. I don't know, I—"
"Alec." I cut him off. "Shut up."
"I need to tell you." He said. "I woke up in the room and Naomi wasn't there. I mean, I thought she was. A body was curled up in blankets and I— I assumed it was her because she was the only other person who lived in that room. Emma had her room, and I just—"
"You don't have to explain anything." I said. "I believe you. I'm just happy she's alive."
"Where is Mia and Eli?" I asked a moment later, looking towards my parents.
They exchanged a glance before they both smiled at me.
"Go to your room." Mum said softly, while holding my daughter.
I hurried up the stairs, rushing down the hallway before I stopped in the doorway to my bedroom.
My eyes landed on my older siblings, and Mia was the one who saw me first. She shrieked loudly and rushed towards me, pulling me into her embrace.
