As Alec got home from the hospital, I decided to avoid him.
Mum and dad decided to let him stay at home, but Alec told them he needed to move out for my sake.
I knew he felt bad about every thing that had happened, but after finding him in knockturn alley, I could barely even look at him.
There wasn't long until I had to go back to Hogwarts. I hadn't gotten the head girl badge but I didn't really expect to make head girl.
I didn't want to make head girl. It was too many responsibilities.
"Sabrina?!" Mum's voice called from down the hallway, causing me to groan as I rolled off my bed.
I pulled open the door and stepped out into the hallway, pushing my hands into the pockets of my sweatpants as I looked towards my mum.
"Do you need new robes for the school year?" She asked. "You keep growing."
I shook my head.
"I still fit in the ones from last year and I don't think I'll grow much taller if I have to be honest."
"I hope so." Mum chuckled. "You're already taller than me by nine centimetres. Is there anything else you need for the school year? Apart from the grade seven spell book."
I shrugged.
"A new broom would be nice." I said with a cheeky smile, hoping that she would agree.
"Ha... I'm not falling for that. You just got a new broom."
"When I was fourteen!"
"Exactly. It's only three years old. I got a broom in the summer before my second year and I used that same one until I graduated. You don't need a new one."
Mum walked down the stairs and I walked back into my room, closing the door behind me.
It's not like I need a new broom but it didn't hurt to try.
This morning, Aunt Cece left again with her girlfriend. They went back to travelling the world so maybe in about ten years, I'd get to see her again.
I'm starting to believe that no families are truly happy. It's always broken somewhere and in my family, it's broken on mum's side.
I took a look around my room, trying to decide what to do. I was bored.
I ended up grabbing my wand and as I approached my door, it opened, revealing Alec.
"I'm actually about to leave." I said. "So whatever you want to say can wait until later."
As I tried to leave my room, Alec blocked the way, causing me to sigh.
"I will hex you." I threatened.
"I don't doubt that you would, but I need us to put all of this shit behind us." He said.
"Oh do you?" I laughed. "That's rich... I haven't done shit. You're the one sabotaging your own relationship to your siblings."
"I know that, Bree." He sighed. "But listen, we've both seen how mum is with her siblings. Her and William have been fighting for twenty-three years and Charlotte travels so avoid her family. I don't want that to happen here. I know I've been a fucking idiot but you have to understand that I was scared."
"I don't have to understand anything." I scoffed. "Get out of my way, Alec. I have somewhere to be."
Alec stepped further into my room and shut the door behind him, causing me to sigh.
