I didn't leave even though my uncle wanted me to.
He kept telling me to go home, but I wasn't done with Theo.
"What did you do to her, huh?" I asked as I shoved him the second I got away from my uncle who tried keeping me back.
I slapped Theo across the face.
"Did you hit her like that, hmm?" I asked before I punched him in the face. "Or like that?"
I went to punch him again but he grabbed onto my fist and forced it back down while staring at me, his jaw clenched.
Uncle Will walked over, placing a hand against Theo's shoulder, urging him to step back.
"Let go of her, Theodore." He said calmly, and Theo did. "Get dressed, then come downstairs. Your dad and I did not raise you to be a woman beater."
"I'm not—"
"Theodore!" My uncle raised his voice. "Stay quiet. I do not want to hear any kind of bullshit explanation you've got planned."
Theo folded his arms over his chest while my uncle turned around. He looked at me, then at Kyla who stood in the door.
"Out." He urged us and Kyla did voluntarily while my uncle basically had to drag me.
He closed the door to Theo's room, before he turned to Kyla — his oldest daughter.
"Go see if your dad is still sleeping." He said. "If he is, wake him up, please."
Kyla nodded before running downstairs to where my uncles bedroom was.
"Sabrina..." Will sighed and looked at me. "...go home."
"Go home?" I scoffed. "I'm not going anywhere. Theo has been abusing my best friend for god knows how long! He's got everyone fooled to think he's this great guy! I thought he was my friend, I-I thought he was— but he's not! Who does that to someone?! W-Who—"
"Bree." He said softly to get my attention. "Deep breath."
I took a deep breath like he told me to.
"Listen... you're seventeen years old—"
"I'm eighteen." I cut him off. "My birthday was last month."
He sighed.
"Right... you're eighteen. Theo is not gonna go unpunished for this but you can't do anything."
"I can't?" I laughed. "I am going to kill him!"
"Go home, Sabrina!" He raised his voice slightly. "You are going to wake up the entire house, including the little ones."
"It's eleven o'clock. Why are they still sleeping?"
"We had a long night." He told me. "Just go home to your parents. Do they even know you're here?"
I shrugged.
"I don't know. I left as soon as Adriana told me who was hurting her."
My uncle nodded.
"Okay. Well, go home. Tell them you were here and let me take care of the situation."
I sighed.
"You didn't see what he did to her." I said. "I thought it was her dad but it was him all along. Every single bruise. Every black eye. Every sore rib. How could he lay a hand on her and then go back to acting like some cute couple in public? Plus, he's manipulative. He told me to drop it when I talked to him about her father. He told me, he assured me that Adriana was safe at Hogwarts so I let it go and meanwhile, he just kept hurting her."
The door to Theo's room opened and he walked out, now fully dressed.
I felt my anger rise again and as I went to jump him, my uncle wrapped an arm around my stomach and pulled me back.
"Go!" He yelled at me.
"Fine!" I yelled back before I looked at Theo. "Stay the fuck away from Adriana. If I ever see you fucking look at her again, I will kill you!"
Then I marched off, down the hallway and down the stairs where uncle Marco was about to walk up.
"Bina?"
"Theo belongs in a fucking psych ward." I said before leaving the house, apparating home.
I marched through the door, slamming it shut behind me.
I didn't get to take many steps before my dad entered the foyer.
"Is Adriana still here?" I asked. "I went over there and—"
"We called her father." He told me, and I stopped walking to look at him. "He came over to get her and we helped her tell him what had been going on. She's home now, she's safe... I'm getting a hold on Hermione so she can drop the case against Adrian."
I looked down at the floor, nodding slightly before realising I wasn't wearing any shoes.
I had been so angry that I hadn't felt the ground against my bare feet. I was also still wearing a shirt and shorts that I wore to bed.
"Why don't you come eat some breakfast?" Dad asked.
I looked at him.
"Will knows now too." I said. "What do you think is going to happen to Theo?"
My dad sighed.
"I don't know, Bina." He said. "But I know that both William and Marco are against domestic abuse. They won't look past this even if it's their own son."
I shook my head.
"He's a— Theo has always been a good guy." I said. "Sure, he's like most other guys our age, annoying at times but he wouldn't— I didn't think he'd be the person to do something like this."
"None of us did." Dad said softly. "Come on... eat some breakfast. We can talk meanwhile."
He gestured for me to enter the kitchen, which I did, dad following me.
"Actually... can I eat in my room?" I asked and looked back at my dad before looking at mum.
"Eat in your room?" Mum frowned. "You never want to eat in your room."
I shrugged.
"Can I?"
Mum and dad exchanged a look.
"I mean... yeah." She nodded. "Are you okay? After today?"
"Yes."
I grabbed my plate before I walked out of the kitchen and upstairs.
The second I got to my room, I closed the door behind me and then my eyes started stinging as tears filled them.
I don't cry.
I got into my bed but I didn't even get to take one bite of my breakfast waffle before I broke into tears, unable to hold it back no matter how hard I tried.
Then a wave of guilt hit me.
I wasn't the one who had been abused for so long. He never did anything to me.
I ate my waffle as I cried, wiping my cheeks now and then.
I never cried.
I mean, I did... but it was rare, and right now I couldn't stop.
My favourite cousin, one of my best friends were not who I thought he was.
I felt betrayed.
