Y/n and Charles had returned to the headquarters after the car reveal. For a little over a month, they had been teammates, and though he was far from her first choice, she would actually be willingly to admit, only to herself of course, that maybe it wasn't that bad after all. But as before the rivalry was obviously still there, and they weren't that afraid to show it anymore.  

Of course they behaved with respect in front of the cameras, but the whole team had no doubt that these two had a messy history together. It's not like it was escalating completely. It was after all still their job it was all about, but it was like they were both so keen to keep each other on their toes all the time. 

But this whole rivalry between them was natural, and in a way it kinda made them better teammates. And it that way Y/n could admit that she was actually having a bit of fun. They were constantly trying to beat the other person in different challenges, and to everyone's surprise it made their results better each time. They were definitely both ready to get out on track for real this time.

Finally the day came, when the team took of to Barcelona to prepare for the Pre-season testing. And only one problem seemed to occur for Y/n, only it was kind of a big problem for her. She was not overly fond with flying, but usually she would make it work. Only this time she had to sit next to Charles of all people, and she did NOT want him to see her freak out over something so dumb as flying. 

So when she sat there on her seat, she plugged some earphones in and turned up for some calming music while looking out the plane window. She felt her body shake a little and quickly grabbed her armrest so tight her knuckles became white. What she didn't know in that moment was that Charles had rolled his seat back a little bit trying to sleep, when he noticed her grabbing the armrest with much force. 

He was about to say something probably pretty stupid when he noticed the look on her face. It was filled with... panic? He had never seen her like this, and he knew that she was a tough woman. When they used to race together in F2 and F3 and so on he always noticed how calm and confident she was, when she entered her car. But for the first time he saw that she was truly scared, and a part of him actually felt bad for her. Heck, a part of him even wanted to comfort her a bit, but then she shortly made eye contact with him and glared a bit before turning away again. She would probably think he was crazy if he tried to comfort her, so he decided to stay back. 

The plane had landed and Charles noticed how eager Y/n was to leave the plane, but he chose not to say anything. Their first day in Barcelona went by in a rush. Meetings and interviews and of course training was mainly what the first few days consisted of. But that wasn't really a problem for the two drivers, they were both more than ready to start racing again. 

"Are you ready for me to beat you on the racetrack soon? I know, I am" Charles' deep voice sounded from behind Y/n who had just sat down to eat her breakfast at an empty table. "You sure have a lot of confidence for someone with a hairstyle like that. You do know it's morning, right?" she turned around and met him with the same amount of cockiness as he had just given her. He then sat down at the table with her. "That seat is reserved" she said starring at him. 

"To whom may I ask?" sometimes his arrogance was too much for her, but over the years she had learned to live with it. "Anyone but you" she replied eating the granola and yogurt on her spoon. "You really don't wanna sit with your teammate?" he had his famous smirk plastered in his face, while she maintained a numb façade. "Not really, do you?" somehow that question caught him a little of guard, and Y/n had a lot of fun with that. "Well... maybe I do" it was like he was swallowing all his pride saying those words. Y/n couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, whatever makes you sleep at night" and there they sat, as teammates, something they never thought was possible, but they actually had a quite normal conversation all things considered. And for some reason, Y/n actually had a tiny bit of fun. 

"How does the car feel, Y/n?" Riccardo, her radio engineer said. The satisfaction to sit behind the wheel of the famous Ferrari F1 car was indescribable. Never in her life had she felt such satisfaction as it smoothly drover over the track in Barcelona. "All good so far, the grib is a bit tight around corners, but it's getting there" she spoke back to her radio engineer. 

A week later at the next and also last Pre-season testing for 2020 it went a lot better. Of course there was still a lot to work on, but this was her first season in F1, and so far she felt, as if she actually had a grib on the car. Maybe not 100 percent, but it was getting there. And when the two Ferrari drivers were in the car and in their racing mood, they did not make one single stupid comment to each other. They made that deal a long time ago. They had to work together to get good results. 

A/N I know I basically skipped the testing part, but it was just kinda boring. Don't worry I will make it all much more interesting at the races, and drama and stuff like that will happen soon. And of coruse I will try and describe the races and stuff like that the best I can. <3
