Charles woke up in a bad mood the next day. The night before, him and Charlotte had went out on a date, and though she was really pretty and sweet, and technically they were like 'together' now, he could not stop thinking about Y/n. It was like she was a permanent tattoo in his brain, and she would never disappear. He wanted to find her after Free Practice yesterday, but saw her talking to Daniel and didn't want to interrupt them. And the rest of the day he didn't even see her anywhere.
He was starting to wonder if that night after the party even meant anything to her, and if she had already moved on, and it was getting on his nerves. Because that night meant a lot to him. He had always thought that she was beautiful, but he had also always loved their love/hate relationship. But when he saw her again on her first day at the Ferrari headquarters, he realized just how beautiful she actually was.
After a good 10 minutes of overthinking he finally got out of bed, took a shower and got ready for the day. When he reached the cafeteria the first thing he saw, was Y/n sitting at a table talking and laughing with some of the mechanics. Gosh her smile was just perfect, he thought. Suddenly she got eye contact with him, and instead of interacting with a little smile or something like that, he panicked and pulled out his phone and called Charlotte.
Of course she picked up, and now he was forced to have a conversation with her, and he walked right past Y/n's table and caught her giving him a little glare before returning to her conversation with the mechanics. What the hell is wrong with me, Charles thought and sighed. After talking to Charlotte while eating, she finally hung up and Charles looked over to Y/n's table only to find that she had already left. He missed the chance to talk to her... again.
Finally Charles arrived at the pitlane as well dressing up in his racing suit, as he walked past Y/n's driver room he was this close to knock on the door to see if she was there, but got interrupted when Andrea, his personal trainer told him to come join him for warm up. He sighed and followed him to go do the warm up.
"Hey Charlie, good luck out there today" Charlotte was in the garage and ran over to Charles. They shared a little kiss on the lips, and he put on a smile. "Thank you, I'll see you after qualifying" she nodded and kissed him again before taking a seat in front of the TV so she could watch the qualifying. "I'm guessing things are going great between you and Charlotte?" Charles snapped around and looked right at Y/n who were putting on her balaclava, and smiled at her. "Oh uh yeah it is. So are you ready?" he quickly changed the subject.
"Yep" Charles wasn't completely sure, but he noticed what seemed to be a more cold tone in her voice than usual. "Well good luck, you're gonna need it" he said smirking and lightly pushed her as a sign of his joke. He noticed a little smile taking form on her lips, "In your dreams Leclerc" and then she put on her helmet and walked away to get ready.
Qualifying went pretty good as Charles finished P4 with Y/n in P7. The whole team was happy, and Charles couldn't help but running towards Y/n and giving her a tight hug. It looked like she was a bit taken back by his actions, but none the less she hugged him back. Charles could feel his heart beat faster and his whole body became warmer.
"Tell us Charles, how is it working with the only female driver on the grid?" he wasn't exactly a fan of interviews, but he knew he had to do them, and right now he just wanted to get it over with so he could ask if Y/n wanted to hang out for a bit. "Well it's very exciting, you know. It's a different, but good, kind of energy that she brings to the team, and I'm happy to have her as my teammate. You know, we've come a long way since we were kids, and it's fun to challenge each other again."
After what felt like an eternity, he was finally don with the interviews and was trying to spot Y/n in the crowds. But when he couldn't find her, he decided to go back to the motorhome to she, if she was there perhaps. "Hey mate" before he could enter the motorhome, he heard Pierre's voice and turned around. "Oh hey man, what's up?" though Charles wanted to see Y/n right now, he was always happy to see his best mate.
"Just wondering if you wanna hang out?" Pierre said in his French accent. "Yeah sure, let me just get changed first and I'll be there" Pierre nodded and Charles went inside to get changed. When he walked pass her driver room again he decided to finally knock. But then he got no answer. He opened the door to find that her room was completely empty. That was weird. She would usually hang out here for a few moments before going anywhere.
It was like he was barely talking to her anymore. Only when they were forced too, you know, because of them being teammates. And though it was probably also just Charles being a bit dramatic, it was still hurting him a lot. Were they really just back to hating each other? Because he didn't want that. Not at all. He had to go talk to her soon.
A/N Sorry kinda short chapter. Also I hope that you liked this chapter that was more written in Charles' POV <3
