Mr. Binotto's words were still going on repeat in her brain, and she honestly couldn't believe that she was actually standing in Ferrari's headquarter ready to sign her first F1 contract. "I guess we're gonna be racing together again, huh?" Charles said sounding like he cared just ass much as he would care about a fly being born. "Well someone's excited" Y/n said and allowed herself to let out a small giggle.
They were both still sitting in the meeting room with clear instructions to talk for a few minutes before Charles had to show her around and to Mr. Binotto's office. But instead of the talking, it just turned into pure silence. Awkward silence. Normally Y/n wouldn't really care about the silence, but since she would have to have Charles as her new teammate, and since this was Formula One, she had to be the bigger person of she wanted something out of her career. That was obvious.
"Alright, we're obviously not gonna be best buddies like... ever, but we are gonna be teammates, and I am not gonna let our personal feud get in the way of my racing career. Now, I am willingly to work with you strictly as professionals to get the best results for the team... so, what do you say? Colleagues?" she kept a ferm look in her eyes to let him know that she was not messing around.
Charles' eyes kept wandering from her eyes to the hand she had put out for him to shake. Though they had had their personal feud since he could remember, and though he hated that to give her right, she was right... they needed to work together if they were to get good results in the upcoming season. He sighed and finally shook her hand. She had a satisfied look on her face. She actually made them agree on something.
"But this doesn't mean our feud is over" he added. "Oh God no, you still remind me of the annoying little kid you used to be, and clearly still are" she added as well with a cocky little smile. "Very funny" he said blankly before he got up and was about to leave the room. But gestured for her to follow him. She wouldn't receive that tour on her own, would she now.
As she followed Charles around the headquarter and met a few people, she couldn't help but actually listen closely to what he said. That really wasn't a normal thing for her to do with Charles. Actually listen to him. And the further they got in the tour the more she found herself not wanting to come up with some sassy comment. She found herself actually enjoying what he said. It was like the Charles she talked with, when she first entered the meeting room, was still in the meeting room, and this Charles might actually work as a teammate.
This was a really rare thing for her, and it even caused her to smile just a little bit when she looked at him. "So, this is Binotto's office. He's probably waiting for you so uh, I'll leave you to it. See you around... teammate" he said with another of his famous smirks and was that a... wink he gave her? That was a new one. She didn't even answer him, she just starred as he walked away.
Was she actually starting to like this new Charles? Could she maybe even become friends with him? it seemed impossible, but it did feel good when she didn't have to waste her energy on fighting with him. Maybe all this wasn't so bad after all.
She entered Mr. Binotto's office, and sure enough, he was sitting behind a desk with papers in front of him waiting for her probably. "So we meet again, Y/n. How was the tour?" he asked with the same optimism and happiness as she encountered before in the meeting room.
"Oh yeah it was really good, I'm very excited for this" good answer, she thought. Then he began talking about a bunch of practical stuff and stuff with the team and Charles. He even said that they had a strict dating policy, so she wasn't allowed to date Charles or other male or female members of the team. When Mr. Binotto said that, she had to put on her best façade to not burst out laughing. She felt sorry for the poor girl (or boy, you never know) who would end up dating Charles. But she maintained her façade and simply just nodded and said how she understood.
After a rather long, but good conversation, Y/n was more than ready to sign her contract that for now would last for the 2020 season. She felt her heartbeat rise as she signed with a big smile and a warm feeling inside. Though ever since she was little, Red Bull Racing had been her number one favorite team, she wasn't lying, when she said that she had always kept a close eye to the bright red color of the Ferrari car, and she was more than honored to be joining the team.
She was told that they would present the 2020 F1 car on February 11th, but until then, Y/n's days would be filled with hard work, training and sim racing practicing for the winter testing on February 19th. For some weird reason, Y/n was really looking forward to get some hard work and training done. That was usually what kept all her stressful thoughts away. And right now her thoughts were more stressful than ever as she was going into her first season of F1 as the new Ferrari driver. And following Sebastian Vettel... that was some big shoes to fill, and she was worried that her feet wouldn't be big enough for that.
But for now she left the Ferrari headquarters with a smile on her face. She decided that all the stressful thoughts would be future Y/n's problems to deal with.
A/N I hope you like it so far. I have a few drafts that I will post. And don't worry I have a bunch of things planned <3
