Part 18

A week and a half later Y/n was back in Italy working out everyday and practicing on the sim. She had been working hard to rebuilt herself after the crash, but she was already back in her top form. Her head or body was only sore from working out now, which was a good sign. They were heading to Great Britain tomorrow night, so she had to prepare the best she could for the upcoming race. 

But right now she was sitting in the cafeteria eating lunch and waiting for Charles as they had some work to do together afterwards. She finally spotted him entering the cafeteria being on his phone and smiling. Finally he looked up and sat down next to her. "You're in a good mood, huh?" she said referring to the smile on his face. "Yeah well, remember Charlotte" Y/n's heart sank as she nodded. "We've been talking this entire week and I asked her out and she said yes!" he said with happiness on his face. But Y/n was far from happy. 

"Oh that's... good for you" he was too busy texting again and didn't even notice the thick layer of sarcasm in her voice. It was unfair of her to be mad at him, but she couldn't help it. She was falling for him more with each moment they spend together. And a part of her also wanted him to know, just how much that night meant to her. But he could never know that, and therefore she had no right to be mad, but that one stung a lot. She wanted to just run as far away as possible right now. 

After lunch they had some interviews and videos to film together, and though she had a really perfect fake smile on her face, she was this close to just run away from there. But she took a deep breath and got through it. Though after they were done, she got the hell away from there and almost ran away to sit on the sim for a bit. Charles was actually about to say something, but she got out of there so quickly that he missed the change. He thought it was a bit weird, but decided to just let it go.

Luckily she was able to push her thoughts away, when she was practicing on the sim. It was going well, and her trainer told her that she was really getting better. And after what felt like a super long day at the office, she was finally going outside to drive home. "Stranger wait up!" she rolled her eyes. How stupid of her to think she had managed to avoid him for the day. She turned around and saw Charles running up to her. "Hey what's up?" she said trying not so sound mean. 

"Uh well Peter asked me to check on you, he said you were acting a little weird at training today" Great. Just fucking great. It was getting harder and harder to hide it. "Oh, no I'm fine" she lied hoping that he would buy that answer. But Charles narrowed his eyes a little stepping closer to her making her hear beat faster as he laid his hands on her shoulder once again giving her flashbacks. It was really starting to annoy her. "Are you sure? You know, you can tell me, right?" no actually she couldn't tell him. At all. "I know, but I'm fine. Really. I was probably just a bit tired" he kept starring at her for a few seconds before letting go. "Alright. Well, I'll see you tomorrow then" they said goodbye, and Y/n could finally get into her car and drive home.

And then came the plane ride to Great Britain, but this time she sad besides Tabatha instead of Charles which made her feel a little better. She could not comprehend the fact that she was falling for him and had to hide it AND that fact that she hated flying. No that would simply be too much. 

After talking to Tabatha the whole plane ride, and actually having a bit of fun, they had finally arrived at their hotel and it was time to just settle in. Y/n went straight to her room to get ready for bed. 

Once again Charles was just about to say something to her, asking if she wanted to watch a movie, but saw how quickly she left. He wanted to go after her, to make sure she was alright, when he got a notification on his phone.

Hi Charlie <3 My plane is arriving tomorrow morning, I can't wait for our date

Charles
Yeah me neither, it's gonna be great

Charlotte
Alright well see ya soon

Charles
Yep. Bye

He sighed and closed his phone. He wasn't exactly thrilled about the date, but it was his own fault. He had to find a way to get over Y/n, and fast so he wouldn't ruin his season and everything around him. So he figured he would try and give it a shot with this girl, Charlotte Sine. Maybe he could develop feelings for her instead, so he just go back to thinking that Y/n was his childhood rival and now teammate.

All this thinking made him tired, and he too went to his hotel room.
