Part 60

Charles was right, Turkey was a fun circuit, and Y/n did have a lot more fun since she knew that Charles was alright back in Monaco. Soon Friday had already enrolled and Y/n walked into the paddock along with Lando and George. 

"Did you have fun with Charles?" Lando asked since he and the other guys only had time to stay in Monaco for 2 days, and therefor they hadn't seen Charles since then. "Yeah I did, he's already recovering a lot, and the doctors think he'll be able to get out of his bed soon." she smiled. "That's amazing news, so I'm guessing you're ready to race this weekend?" George smiled looking at her. 

"Oh I am so ready! I just wanna get out there again" she beamed and then said goodbye to her friends as she had now reached the Ferrari motorhome. 

It was very clear that the spirit in the garage had lifted since the good news about Charles. Everyone had a happy expression on their face, and walked around whistling or humming a little song or just genuinely being much more focused and happy. 

Y/n did her warm up drills with Peter without a single complain or any kind of negative comment. In fact she just wanted to get out on the track and do her best. And she was so ready for that. "Great, all ready for FP1. We start in 10 minutes" Peter announced and Y/n nodded before checking her phone.

Y/n smiled to herself before turning off her phone and put on her balaclava, helmet and gloves and finally getting into her car. She felt relaxed behind the familiar steering wheel, and when she got the green light, she rolled out of the garage and onto the hot track. 

She couldn't definitely feel how hot the track was, and she struggled a bit with her tires as they were burning up pretty fast. "Alright cool down the tires, please. Make one last lap and return" Riccardo announced and Y/n pressed the confirm button. 

She had already set a good time, and she was satisfied when she returned to the garage. Her time was undefeated, and she scored a solid P5 in the first Free Practice. And since there was a little break before the next Free Practice, she had time to relax a bit. 

But not long after, Free Practice 2 enrolled, and it was time to get back in the car. This time Y/n was being more careful with her tires since the team didn't have an unlimited amount, and she still needed to set a good time tomorrow in qualifying. 

So FP2 was pretty calm and nothing major really happened from her side. But at least she got a P7 and it was a decent result. At least she had plenty of time to improve that result in the following two days.

"So Y/n, obviously a lot has happened within the last couple of races, can you tell us a bit about what happened and how you feel after all that?" 

Y/n was sat in an exclusive interview with someone from SkySports, and even though she wasn't overly found with interviews, she didn't mind doing this one. It was mostly just about her race win and a bit about Charles, so nothing crazy really. 

"Well it's no secret that I had been pretty down since Portugal, and a part of me did not want to race in Italy. But I was lucky to have a lot of support form my friends and team, and then came the news that Charles was awake and that definitely helped me a lot" she smiled.

"But you didn't get those news until after the race if I'm correct, how did that first win feel then?"

"You are correct. I got some news before the race saying that Charles was better but still not awake. I think it was a combination of those news and everything that has been going on in my life this season that just kinda pushed me over the edge and I focused it all into my driving. But of course it felt amazing to win, and I'd very much like to do it again" she chuckled

"And seeing as the season has almost ended, how do you reflect on your first F1 season so far, and what are your feelings about the future?" 

"Uh that's a hard one. I think my first season has been full of surprises and a bunch of new exciting things and people. I've definitely loved it a lot, and I've learned quite a lot about myself and the team. And for the future, well I'm definitely excited and I can't wait for more surprises" she replied.
