Sadly their little paradise together in Monaco couldn't last forever, and both drivers were currently back at the headquarters working out a few days before they would leave to go to Germany. It was all weird not being around Charles the same way Y/n had been in Monaco, and she didn't like it. It also became harder to hide it from everyone, as she kept starring at him whenever he entered a room, and Tabatha had already caught her starring on time, where she had to make up a story for Tabatha to believe. And she really wasn't good at lying. But somehow she managed. She hoped at least.
After a long and hard workout and a good shower, Y/n was getting ready for an interview. It was just gonna be her. Something for SkySports. She wasn't really looking forward to it, but as soon as the interview would be over, she would have the rest of the day of, and her parents was in town.
Y/n was an only child, and it was hard for her to not be around her parents. They had both always supported her racing career and heling her as much as they could, she really was their little superstar. But as Y/n got older, her parents got more busy, and they couldn't travel everywhere with her anymore. It was about 4 months ago since Y/n joined Ferrari, and she hadn't seen her mom ever since, and her dad, Scott she saw at the Austrian Grand Prix, but that was also a long time ago
For two months they had been in Brazil for work, and when they got home to England, where they lived, they still had so much work that they couldn't travel to her races at the moment. But finally they had some time off, and they had just arrived in Italy, where they would have a holiday for a week, but in the meantime, Y/n could see them until she would go to Germany.
"Okay Y/n, well first of all it was so sad to not see you on the track last time. Can you tell me what happened?" she slightly clenched her fists as she starred at the news reporter. "Yeah well, Friday and I felt fine. I was a little stressed because it was an important race, and our pace was good. But when I woke up Saturday, I felt a little off. At first it was nothing, but it got worse. So the team and I had to make a tough decision, as I had luckily just a regular round of sickness, but yeah it still sucked though" she said with a fake smile.
"And what kind of stress did you have? Is it because you are the only woman on the grid?" Y/n quickly glanced at Tabatha who stood behind the camera with a sad look on her face, but signalized for Y/n to just hold on. "It's hard to tell. Of course I do feel an extra pressure of being the only woman, but that keeps me more motivated rather than stressed. I think, I was just nervous because I felt ready to fight for a podium again perhaps, and I knew how important that would be for the team and myself."
After finally moving on to some more race related questions, Y/n began answering a bunch of those. And then they announced that they only had one question left. "So, Y/n. Seeing across the media, there have been rumors. Dating rumors to be exact" Instantly her heart began beating faster, and she tried her best to hide her emotions. "Really? How so?" she said trying to play dumb. "Well fans have actually been shipping you with Lando Norris seeing as you two are very close. Now, can you confirm or deny anything?"
She was being shipped with Lando? Oh thank God. It may still be weird, but at least people weren't suspecting her and Charles. In fact, she almost stared laughing at the comment. "Oh no, no we aren't together at all. I've known Lando since childhood. We've been racing together, and basically grew up together along with Alex and George. Those three guys are like my brothers and nothing else. I can promise you that"
"So you can confirm that you are single?" well no, but she obviously couldn't say that. "Yes, I am very much single" she said with a bit more confidence, as she still found the comment pretty funny. Finally her interview was over, and she walked towards Tabatha. "I'm sorry about the dumb questions, but you did great" Tabatha said and smiled. "Thanks. Well, I better get going, my parents are probably waiting."
They said their goodbyes, and Y/n drove off to get into the city where she would meet her parents. She felt herself becoming more and more excited to see her parents again. When she finally pulled up to the restaurant and even parked next to her parents familiar car, she smiled. She got out and luckily no one seemed to recognize her just yet, not even when she entered the restaurant. And just then her smile grew even wider when she saw her parents already at the table talking.
Suddenly her parents noticed her too, and their faces instantly lit up with smiles and a bit of happy tears. "Honey!" her mom said embracing her in a very tight hug. Y/n smiled as she wrapped her arms around her. Soon she was hugging her dad, and they both had huge smiles on their faces. "It is so good to see you again, sweetie. We've missed you so much" her dad said as they all sat down.
"So tell us, how is Formula One going? We've obviously been looking, but it's not quite the same" her dad said. "Yeah, it's amazing. Well we've had some ups and downs, but I got a podium, and I've scored some good points so far. I'd say it's looking pretty good" she said smiling like crazy. "Oh yes we saw that, well done. We're so proud of you. But we also saw that nasty crash you had a few races ago, honey please don't scare us like that again" of course they'd called her after her crash and she talked with them, but now they could get to talk to her in person. "Mom, I promise I'm fine. Yeah it was nasty, but it happens. And we've got the best security now, so everything will be fine"
