"Well, Ron is a right foul git, I hope you know that."

No. This had to be wrong! I was supposed to be Gryffindor along with Harry! Like our parents... "No, sir, this has to be wrong," I pleaded with the headmaster.

He looked at me and frowned. "I'm sorry Miss Potter, please head towards the Slytherin table.

Great. Just great. You know, I was starting to think that Hogwarts would be enjoyable, but now I've been thrown into the only house everyone seems to hate.

I groaned, hopping off the stool and heading towards the Slytherin table, who were the only ones clapping, along with a lonely Sam from the Ravenclaws. "Glad to have a Potter," an older boy said, sticking his hand out for me to shake. I glared at the boy and walked right past him.

I saw Leah sitting next to a few other first year students, and she waved me over, a smile on her face. "Ava, sit here!" She said excitedly. I gave her a small smile and took a seat to her left.

"Hey," I said as I sat beside her. I wasn't in the mood to hold a conversation.

"Listen," she said, her voice was stern. "I know you're upset since Harry is in Gryffindor without you, but Slytherin is an amazing house no matter what others think, and you'll do amazing here!" Her happiness made me feel a bit better. She was right too. Slytherin is pretty great, no matter what anyone says. It's even better now that I'm here. Heh.

After everyone was sorted, the headmaster stood, making the hall fall silent. "Welcome!" He said. "Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you!"

With that, the headmaster sat down, snapped his fingers, and pounds of food appeared on the table ranging from roast beef, to pastries of every type. "Wow," Leah said. "Good thing I'm hungry!" Leah began stacking piles of roast beef and mashed potatoes onto her plate, making me chuckle. I quickly followed suit, stuffing my face with as much food as possible.

As me and Leah ate, a cold voice interrupted our indulgence. "A Potter in Slytherin, how odd," Malfoy said, a smirk plastered on his face.

"Oh please Malfoy," I said, barely paying any mind. "I don't have patience for your nonsense right now."

He looked taken aback by how nonchalant I was, but quickly recollected himself. "I see the female Potter can't be without her other half, no can she?" He said mockingly. I ignored him, continuing to eat my meal. "You can't ignore me, Potter!" He pushed.

Merlin, if I roll my eyes much more they'll get stuck there...

"I said you can't ignore me —!"

"Oh, piss off princess," I said sarcastically. From beside me I heard Leah choke on her food, trying her best to go unnoticed by Malfoy.

The boy looked infuriated. "Don't call me that!" He said through gritted teeth.

"Well I think it suites you," Leah said with an innocent smile. "All princesses have bodyguards, and it seems that matches your case."

I glanced towards the big boys sat on either side of him and bit my lip in order to not laugh. His glare was overflowing with hatred for me and my friend.

"Shut up you filthy little mud —,"

"What?" I interrupted him with a smirk. "Were you going to call her a mudblood?" I asked. "Well that wouldn't work considering she's pureblood... but hey, whatever you think works."
