"It's much easier said than done,"

The next few days flew by and it was already the first of October. I groaned, my mind stirring as I woke up; visions of colorful dots disappearing from sight. Water could be heard trickling so I presumed Leah to be showering; she does this every morning.

Fumbling off my bed, I dragged myself to the closet and pulled over my Slytherin uniform. I combed back my hair and tied it into a high ponytail, and as always, leaving some free strands to frame my face.

"Hey lil bro," I said, taking a seat beside my brother. Today I decided to sit with the Gryffindors, for Leah still wasn't at the Great Hall.

Ron chuckled and Hermione smiled. "I'm not your little brother!" He shot back, slightly annoyed.

I laughed. "Well, you may be. Anyways... is it true that your the new Gryffindor seeker?"

"Yeah it is, so be prepared to lose!"

"Oh don't flatter yourself dear brother, we all know I'm the better of the two of us."

"Slytherin will be blown to pieces!" Said Ron.

"Oh yeah? And why's that?"

"Because my brothers are the beaters!"

"You got that right Ronny-kin's," a voice said from behind Ron. I looked up, seeing Ron's older brother Fred, I think, standing behind him, ruffling through his red hair.

Ron grimaced and shooed his brothers hand away. "Agh, Fred!" He said, annoyed. From behind me, the delicate laugh of Selina was heard.

She took a seat to my right and smiled. "Hey Ava, long time no see!" She said with a huge grin.

Surprising myself, I smiled back, not nearly as annoyed by her presence as I usually would be. Freds twin brother, George, then appeared behind me and ruffed through my hair.

I looked up to see him smirking. "Pleasure to finally make the acquaintance, Miss Potter," said George in an overly nice tone as he bowed to me. I chuckled.

"Well, its been fun," Fred started.

"But we have things to do," George continued.

"And pranks to pull," the twins said in unison. These two really made my mind twist. "Care to join us?" They asked Selina, making her laugh.

Fred, I think, stuck out his hand to grab Selina's, hoisting her up. "See you later, Ava!" She said as they walked away, still discretely holding Fred's hand. I raised an eyebrow but didn't question; for they'd make a cute couple.

"If you get detention, I'm gonna laugh!" I yelled towards the trio with a smirk.

After breakfast, I headed back to my Slytherin friends; who were joined by Leah, and headed to our first class. Transfiguration. Leah and I took our usual front row seats while Draco and Blaise sat behind us. During the remainder of class, Draco found fun in throwing parchment at my head and tugging my hair. Lucky me.

"Are you excited?" Draco asked while we made our way towards the Quidditch pitch. Maybe on the outside I seemed composed, but my insides were doing all sorts of flips and twists!

"Oh, of course I am!" I gushed, throwing my hands into the air. "I've always found flying quite interesting. Who know's I may not enjoy it, but I have to give it a try!"

He rolled his eyes from my overly cheerful attitude, but I could tell he was just as excited.

When we arrived, I could see Filch standing in the middle of the pitch with a Quidditch ball set.

"Are you two ready for your first practice?" He asked, rubbing his hands together.

"Never been more ready." I stood tall and firm, attempting to seem for confident in my abilities then I actually am.

Flint nodded his head. "I like the confidence—what about you, Malfoy?"

Draco shrugged, pretending to be uninterested. "Sure," he replied.

Flint opened the case holding the Quidditch balls and picked up a large brown one, with three indentations. "This one right here is the Quaffle, which the Chasers are responsible for; that's you, Malfoy. Your job is to try and score, throwing the Quaffle passed the keeper."

We both nodded, showing we understood. "The last one I'm going to explain is the snitch." He opened a small compartment in the carrier and pulled out a tiny golden ball with wings. He let go of it to which it immediately began hovering over his hand. "This Ava, is your job. At the beginning of the game, the snitch will be let loose and all you have to do is catch it."

"That sounds simple," I said while eyeing the floating ball. It was quite pretty.

Flint huffed. "It's much easier said than done."

"I won't let you down, Flint." I saluted him in a joking manor and he smirked.

For the remainder of practice, Flint had us memorize the balls and rolls of Quidditch. Towards the end, he had us ride our brooms around the pitch, practicing our flying skills.

"Alright, it's now— eight o'clock. Curfew just hit, so I'd assume you'd want to get going before Filch catches you," Flint said.

Draco and I nodded then headed back to our common room. It was quite the cold night, and I shivered as we made our way down the dark corridors of the dungeon. After we entered the common room, I waved goodnight to Draco and headed to my dorm.

The moment I stepped into the dorm, Leah tackled me into a hug. "Ava, how was practice?" She gushed, her voice laced with almost as much excitement mine had earlier in the day.

I chuckled, pushing her arms off of me. "It was good," I said as I walked over to my nightstand and grabbed a pair of pajamas. "Flint seemed quite proud of me!"

"Flint—proud of you? He hates everyone!"

I laughed. "Well, he doesn't seem to hate me and Draco."

I quickly went into the bathroom and took a shower, scrubbing my face of all the dirt and sweat. I fell asleep that night smiling to myself once more, proud of where I've gotten. Mother and father would be proud...
