"You've been a bad influence on her,"
Dear Leah,
I'm sorry I haven't written to you all summer. My Aunt and Uncle never let us use our Owl's. I'm writing because I haven't received any owl's from you all summer, and wanted to make sure everything was fine... Also, Harry and I ran away from the Dursley's and need a place to stay. If we can stay at your place, meet us at The Leaky Cauldron in the next few hours.
From your bestest friend,
Ava Potter,I folded the letter and shoved it into an envelope we found on the road while Harry unhinged the Owl cages
"Here Mavy," I said as I held the envelope out to her and tied it around one of her legs. "Bring this to Moonshine Manor, okay? Hedwig will go with you just in case anything happens — and make sure it gets to Leah, not her parents."
Mavis hooted happily along with Hedwig before both owl's took off into the early morning sky. Merlin, I hoped Leah would say yes. I really don't feel like sleeping outside for the next few days...
Harry took a seat beside me on the sidewalk. "How are we going to get to the Leaky Cauldron?" He asked.
"Simple. We take the Knight Bus." Harry seemed confused. "Here — watch this..." I stood from the sidewalk and placed my wand arm into the road, waving it around like a mad-man.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"This is how you call the Knight Bus. Now, all we have to do is wait until it arrives — did you hear that?"
I swiftly turned around, staring intently at the rustling bush behind us. Before Harry could reply, a black dog emerged from the bushes. "Woah," Harry said.
For a moment I was nervous, but soon realized that the dog had no intention of hurting us; in fact, he was wagging his tail! I slowly approached the dog and placed my palm in front of his nose so he could sniff me. Thankfully, the scruffy dog didn't run and gladly licked my hand.
Something about this dog sparked some odd feeling in my chest — like I already knew him... odd. "Awe," I said as he licked my hand. "He's so cute! I'm gonna name you... Blacky. Yeah.
Harry chuckled. "Wow, Ava. I wonder how you came up with that name," he said sarcastically.
I rolled my eyes, but before I could respond, the Knight Bus arrived.
-
"Thank you f0r riding the Knight Bus," said a boy in his late teenage years as we hopped down the steps of the bus and onto the sidewalk.
"Anytime," Harry replied with a polite smile.
"By the way, what are your names again?" The man asked.
"Oh, we're Ava and Harry Potter," I said. My skin was a slight pink since I knew his reaction would be normal.
The man's pimple covered face contorted into a smile. "In the flesh!" He said. "It's a pleasure to meet you!" Harry and I sent the man a smile.
"Pleasure to meet you as well," we said in unison before hurrying away from the bus, wheeling our belongings behind us.
Pushing through the doors of The Leaky Cauldron, the bartender immediately turned his gaze onto us. "Mister and Miss Potter, what do I owe the pleasure?" He asked softly.
"Oh, we're just meeting someone here," Harry replied and I nodded along. A few seconds of a thick silence went by, before the doors of The Leaky Cauldron caught our attention.
