"Move or I'll hex you –!"
"I can't believe he thinks you're evil!" Leah declared as the three of us took chairs at the Gryffindor table for supper. A few Gryffindors gave us odd looks but I ignored them.
"Well, you can't blame him," Hermione started. "There's loads of rumors flying around saying you're the evil twin."
I scoffed. It was rather amusing how Hermione defended that pitiful excuse of a man. He was so fake I'd bet money on his books being lies as well. "Please," I said. "I've done nothing to no one, and they all hate me!" Before anyone could answer, an all so familiar voice began shouting.
"Ava!" Selina yelled as she reached me, a smile spread across her face. I spun around and saw Fred and George by her side. "How've you been? We haven't seen each other in forever!"
I rose from my chair and wrapped her in a tight hug. "I'm so so sorry I haven't spoken to you," I began. "I've been so busy with everything and I –"
"It doesn't matter," she cut me off, pulling away from the hug and sending me a sisterly smile. "So how've you been?"
I spent the rest of supper chatting with Hermione, Leah, Selina, and the twins. Selina and I caught up while laughing about all the twins' future prank ideas for Filch.
In the past, Selina had told me she had a crush on Fred but didn't want to ruin their friendship. I observed the way they acted around one another and wanted to strangle Selina! I mean, how thick could you get? It was obvious they liked each other.
I joined Ron and Hermione on their stroll to meet up with Harry. He was my brother after all, and I needed to know how his detention with the amazing Gilderoy Lockhart went!
"You know, the both of you should be nicer to him," Hermione commented while we were walking. Ron had been expressing how much of a git Lockhart is, and I couldn't help but agree.
"No Hermione, open your eyes and realize how pathetic he is!" I said. Hermione was obsessed with him. It was getting quite annoying and we weren't even finished with the first week of school!
"He's not pathetic! His writing is fascinating and I –"
"So you read his books too?" Ron cut her off with a hint of disgust in his tone. "Bloody hell, Hermione! You really are obsessed."
"I'm not!"
"Are too!"
The two of them bickered back and forth for a bit while I chuckled until a voice cut me from their conversation.
"Come to me... Let me rip you... Let me kill you..."
I abruptly stopped walking and furrowed my brows. The voice sounded like it was coming from the ceiling, which couldn't have been correct... It was shrill and cold... something that definitely wasn't good. I turned around, searching for an item that could be producing it but found nothing.
"Ava, what is it?" Hermione asked, sounding slightly worried.
"What do you mean? You heard that, right?"
"Heard what, Ava?" She seemed on edge about me hearing voices. I mean, I couldn't blame her though, I was too...
"That voice! You didn't hear that?"
