"You don't sound so sorry,"
Draco's POV
I didn't get an hour of sleep last night. The next morning, I rolled out of my bed and headed for breakfast when Dumbledore and McGonagall ran past me with their wands out. Soon after, two stretchers followed, and each had a person on it. Harry and Ava Potter. My breath hitched and the idea of eating completely fled my mind as McGonagall stopped in front of me.
"Mr Malfoy, I advise that you gather Mr Zabini and Miss Moonshine, then head to the Hospital wing immediately." McGonagall then hurriedly turned around and headed after the two stretchers, leaving me with my not so positive thoughts. I darted back to the Slytherin common room, and to my luck, Blaise and Leah were sitting on the couch quietly chatting. They both quickly shot up and looked at me who was very obviously panicking.
Leah furrowed her brows. "What's wrong?"
"McGonagall and Dumbledore just brought Ava to the Hospital wing." Leah jumped up from the couch, her eyes once more brimming with tears. Another second later, and she had darted out of the common room.
I stood still, trying to process what was happening. Was she gonna be okay? What if she wasn't! What if I was never able to see her alive again?
"Draco?" Blaise asked slowly. By now Blaise had approached me and was standing by my side. His voice had drawn me back to reality.
"What?" I snapped, sounding ruder than intended.
Blaise looked worried. "Are we gonna go to the Hospital wing?" I froze, not knowing if I wanted to see her in such a condition... What if she looked horrible? What if she was de —
"Mate! Are you good?" Blaise was looking at me with sympathy and I furrowed his brows.
"Don't look at me like that," I snapped once more, "and yeah, let's go."
Blaise nodded and both of us headed to the Hospital wing. When we arrived, Leah was holding Ava's hand and crying. She was still knocked out, and looked practically dead. Blaise quickly went to sit next to Leah and comfort her, but I just stood there, staring at Ava. I didn't know what to do. Should I stay here, or should I leave? After a minute, I decided to stay and fully entered the Hospital Wing.
I took a seat on the edge of her bed. I didn't know how long I sat there, but the whole time I kept my head down, lost in thought. I didn't want to see her in such a condition; it made me feel odd... and I didn't like the feeling. Not much later, Madam Pomfrey came in to check on both of the Potters and I took this opportunity to ask her about her health.
"Is she gonna be okay?" I asked. I didn't want to admit it, but I was extremely worried about her.
"Don't worry Mr Malfoy, she'll be just fine." Relief flooded my sinuses and I sat back down on her cot.
"What about her brother?" Leah asked. I scoffed, not caring about the well being of her brother.
"Yes Miss Moonshine, he'll be alright too." Leah smiled and went to sit back down next to her best friend. Suddenly she gasped, and I looked up from the floor.
"Ah, Miss Potter, you're up!" I quickly looked up and saw that Ava had just opened her eyes. I felt relief rush over me, but the moment we made eye contact, I looked away. Madam Pomfery gave her some chocolate to eat, then she left to work on some other things.
"Ava, we were so worried about you!" Sam pulled her into a hug and smiled. I glanced up for a split second and saw the smile on her face which immediately made me happy. I was so relieved that she was alright...
"Listen," Blaise started. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there to help you, and I'm sure Draco feels bad as well." I could hear Ava and Leah hug Blaise and I quietly scoffed. I wanted to apologize to her, but didn't know how. Suddenly I felt someone elbow me and I raised my head to see Blaise smirking. He then leant in and whispered into my ear.
"Mate, say something!"he whispered into my ear, still smirking.
"Oh—," I started. "Uhm I'm sorry too..." I didn't know how to word it, so I stuttered like crazy. I felt my cheeks heat up a bit, but I controlled myself and they went back to normal. She didn't seem to notice, but Blaise did and he smiled to himself.
"You don't sound so sorry," she replied with a smirk. I sent her a playful glare.
How was I supposed to sound! I didn't know, but I repeated myself, and this time I didn't stutter. "I'm sorry too." She smiled. Her smile made me feel happy, and I felt myself slightly blush again.
"Apology accepted as long as you don't treat me and Leah like trash next year." Blaise and I laughed. I wasn't planning on being rude to her next year, but annoying her did sound pretty fun...
Ava's POV
A week had gone by, and it was the last Friday of the school year. I was currently sitting in the Hospital wing with Ron and Hermione, watching Harry sleep. He still hadn't awoken and we were all severely nervous.
"It'll be alright, I just know it," Hermione said as I held his hand. I sighed.
"I just get nervous..." I said slowly.
Hermione and Ron sat up. "Come on Ava, Harry wouldn't want you sitting here all day missing meals for him," Ron said. I nodded and stood up. The three of us headed to the Great Hall for lunch and I decided to sit with the Gryffindors today. I was in a conversation with Hermione when I noticed a certain platinum-blond haired boy staring at me.
I glanced up from my conversation and sent him a small smile. His cheeks went pink and he looked away immediately. I chuckled at the boy's odd behavior.
"What's so funny?" Hermione asked me curiously. I shook my head with a small smile.
"Nothing," I said. A few minutes later the doors to the Great Hall flung open and we saw Harry standing there. Ron, Hermione, and I shot up from the Gryffindor table and submerged him in a hug. I was so happy to finally see him moving around. Once we pulled away, he faced all of us with a smile.
"You alright Ron?" He asked.
"Alright," Ron replied. "You?"
"Alright. What about you Hermione?"
"Amazing," she said with a smile.
"And you, sis?"
My smile was by far the biggest. "Never better," I replied.
