"Ava, I'd been tapping you for at least thirty seconds!"
The next few weeks had flown by and it was already Halloween. Leah and I sat at the Slytherin table, a few spots away from Pansy and her friends.
"I heard Granger locked herself in the bathroom and has been crying all day," one of her friends whispered quite loudly. Leah and I perked our ears in order to hear their conversation.
"Serves her right," Pansy muttered. "The filthy mudblood shouldn't even be in the school."
"Yeah she didn't even attend her classes."
Leah and I shared a look. "I wonder what happened," Leah said.
I nodded. "This is quite unlike her..."
The both of us loaded our plates with mashed potatoes and Ham, then slipped into conversation with Blaise.
"Defense against the Dark arts is not the best class—," Blaise was interrupted by Professor Quirrell running into the Great Hall, catching everyone's attention.
"TROLL IN THE DUNGEON—THERE'S A TROLL IN THE DUNGEON" He stopped running around the hall and glanced around the room before making eye contact with me. He sent me a smirk and a sharp pain shot up my forehead, causing me to clutch my scar. "T-Thought you out to know," he said, then collapsed onto the floor quite dramatically.
Leah bent down next to me, worried, while everyone else began panicking and frantically running around the room. Draco was screaming the loudest, not taking notice of the pain I was currently experiencing.
"SILENCE!" Dumbledore shouted, and the panicked screams ceased. "Everyone remain calm, and prefects, please escort your house back to the appropriate common room."
The pain in my forehead had finally disappeared, but was now replaced with worry. Isn't our common room in the dungeons?
The prefects led everyone out of the Great Hall and me, Leah, Blaise and Draco stuck together. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Harry and Ron silently slip from the crowd.
I sighed, not wanting to be part of their drama but not wanting them to get hurt either. "I need to take care of something real quick—,"
"No," Leah interrupted, giving me a stern glance. "I saw them slip away as well, but that's their problem, putting themselves in danger. I shall not let you do the same." She took hold of my hand and looked into my eyes. "He'll be okay, trust me."
I sent her a small smile and felt a bit better. She was right. He was Harry Potter, after all.
When we entered the common room, everyone went to their dorms except for me, Leah and Blaise.
My heartbeat quickened, and I couldn't stop fidgeting with my fingers. I needed to know if my brother was alright. I sent him a telepathic message but I'd yet to receive a response. "I'm going to head to our dorm—," Draco began but was interrupted when Blaise slapped him on the arm. "I mean, I'll wait here to see if—um—everyone is alright," he corrected with absolutely no enthusiasm.
A few minutes of silence passed before I heard something.
Ava, everything is fine. We are alright.
It was Harry. He was alive! I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and smiled. "He's all good," I breathed, and Leah sighed before swinging her arms around me.
I hugged her back, still smiling. I could hear Blaise making gagging sounds from behind us. "Blah, why do girls always hug? You're not in a relationship, yet you still show so much affection!"
