"I don't know about you Blaise, but I kind of enjoyed being away from her."
It has been weeks since my encounter with Ginny Weasley and I've gotten no more closer to finding out who Tom Riddle is. I've spent hours upon hours reading in the Library, but no one seems to have written about him.
The rest of October and November flew by and before I knew it, December was already half way gone.
December 14th was a cold winter day, the castle blazing in winter sunlight. Christmas break was quickly approaching, and as I awoke, I heard my fellow Slytherins chatting about their plans. I made my way to breakfast for the first time in over a week, rubbing my eyes.
"Oh, Ava!"
I turned around and saw Leah, who I'd failed to notice, approaching the Slytherin table and taking a seat beside me.
"I feel like I haven't seen you at all! Where have you been?"
"Oh," I sighed and rested my head on my hands. "I've been in the Library, researching."
"Researching what?" She pressed making my palms sweat a bit. I didn't want her to get mad at me for retrieving the book.
"School work," I said, attempting to end the conversation. "Potions has been extra hard recently," which wasn't at all true. "Stupid potions have too many ingredients to memorize..."
She quirked an eyebrow. "But isn't Potions your best subject?"
"Used to be," I shrugged. "But it's gotten tougher with learning all the new recipes..."
"Are you --," Leah was interrupted by Blaise running to the table and shoving her from her seat. "Blaise! Do that again and I will hex you."
"Oh, piss of," Draco said with a smile as he sat beside me. Both of them seemed to be unusually happy.
"You girls will never believe it," Blaise said, completely ignoring Leah. "Hogwarts is starting a dueling club! And the first meeting is tonight!"
I beamed for I've always wanted to be in a dueling club. Leah, however, didn't seem so thrilled.
"Oh, I don't know guys," she drawed, blushing and looking down at the floor. "That doesn't sound so safe..."
"Oh please," I said with a wave of my hand. "What's more fun then cursing your most hated peers!"
"That's the spirit Ava!" Blaise smiled and gave me and Draco high-fives and sticking his tongue out at Leah.
She rolled her eyes and shoved him away. "Listen, I'm sorry I care about my safety, but I'm not signing up."
"Oh come onnnnnn," Blaise groaned, taking her arm and waving it back and fourth. Leah stared back at him with a straight face and slapped his arm away.
"No!"
"Fine," I said while rolling my eyes. "Don't worry Leah, I'll tell you all about it after. But I'm going to sign up before too many people do and it becomes full."
Me, Draco, and Blaise quickly munched down our breakfast and darted out of the Great Hall, leaving Leah to sulk by herself. I loved the girl, but there was no way I wasn't signing up.
Fast forward a few hours and we're all standing outside the Great Hall at a little past seven in order to begin our first dueling lesson.
Everyone gathered with their prospected friends and chatted excitedly, waiting what was to come. Behind us, I see Calypso approaching along along with three of her friends, who I don't really know. Two guys and one girl.
