"We can't catch a break, can we,"
"Listen Ava, I –"
"Please leave," Leah spoke for me. I was still quite disturbed by what I saw and didn't have the energy to argue with Draco. "You too Blaise."
"I – what?! What did I do!" Blaise asked defensively. "She's my friend too!"
"Yes, but this is a girls' moment. Let me and Sam handle this," she stated, and he reluctantly left with Draco.
For a few minutes the three of us stood in silence until Leah decided to speak up. "Uhm, care to explain what happened?"
I just shrugged. "Well, we were walking to meet Harry after dinner when I heard this voice," I started and they both raised their eyebrows.
"A voice...?" Sam asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, it said that it wanted to kill."
"Kill?" Said Leah worriedly.
"Yes. Hermione and Ron didn't hear the voice, but Harry did. We followed the voice here, and well, found this!" I gestured towards the writing and water on the floor.
Silence hovered over us for a moment, everyone tense about the situation. "It makes little sense... how Weasley and Mione didn't hear voices," I said. "Harry and I heard them loud and clear!"
Sam sighed. "Yeah... none of this makes any sense... First; you and Harry hear voices only YOU can hear; next, they lead you to blood on a wall and a petrified cat?!"
"I don't even know what petrified means!" Leah said.
"Petrified means frozen, Leah," I said with a hint of sarcasm.
"Oh."
Everyone silenced once more, for none of us understood anything. What is the Chamber of Secrets? Where is it? Is it real? Who wrote the messages on the wall? Why am I hearing voices? Leah's voice snapped me from my thoughts.
"Uh – Ava, we should leave..."
"Do you guys think I'm going crazy?" I asked. The both of them froze, not knowing how to respond.
"What?" Leah said.
"Do you think I'm going crazy?" I repeated my question in a more confident manner. "You know... since I'm hearing voices no one else can hear..."
"I – well," Leah started, "Even for wizards, hearing voices isn't a grand sign... but logic always pulls through!"
I sighed, but nodded. "So you don't think I'm crazy?"
"Girl you're my best friend!" Sam interjected. "I don't know about Leah over there, but I'd never think you're crazy! If you tell me there's voices, I'll believe you. If you told me they were figmints in your mind, I don't care. Even if you said you're the one who petrified that cat, I will stand beside you!"
Leah nodded as Sam kept talking "Now, let's get back to our common rooms before Filch finds us. He already got his knickers in a twist, we don't need to make things worse now — Leah, make sure she's okay, yeah?"
