"Well this sounds safe,"

I ran out of my dorm, fumbling with my shoes as I tried to slip them on. My red locks were thrown into a messy bun and by the feel of it, I had bags under my eyes.

I guess this is what happens when you decide to stay up past midnight... I overslept.

When I reached the common room, Draco was standing near the entrance; an irritable look in his eyes as he impatiently stamped his foot.

When he saw me, his frown turned straight into a smirk and his foot tapping came to a halt. "Someone overslept," he said with a slight rasp in his voice. He sounded and looked exhausted.

I groaned. "I forgot to set my alarm..."

Draco's POV

I hadn't noticed her appearance yet; so when I did, my heart sped up. She had thrown her hair into a messy bun, causing loose strands to dangle in her face. A weird tingling sensation began to fill the pit of my stomach as if it were doing summersaults. It wasn't the most pleasant feeling, but I had to admit that she looked very pretty – no. I shook my head. Thoughts like that weren't allowed; she was a Potter after all and I am a Malfoy...

I seemed to have zoned out for a moment but Ava's voice snapped me back into reality.

"Er  – where's Blaise?"

"Oh, um – he already left... yeah. I decided to wait here for you and Leah." I stuttered over my words, desperately trying to form a coherent sentence. I couldn't quite understand why I was stuttering, but I didn't enjoy it.

Ava raised an eyebrow and a smile peaked at her lips. I could feel my cheeks turning a slight twinge of pink as I rubbed the back of my neck praying, to Merlin that I'll be out of the encounter soon.

"Well then, we should get going," she said. "Leah was still sleeping so I didn't wake her."

I nodded, not wanting to speak anymore to save myself from embarrassment.

Ava's POV

"Malfoy? Stuttering?" Sam raised an eyebrow and I nodded. I decided to join her on my way to lunch, since we both came from charms class.

"Yeah! I know, it's odd!"

She shrugged. "Well maybe he — no, this is Malfoy we're talking about... It may be possible that he's on edge about something – or maybe he woke up on the wrong side of the bed?"

"Maybe,"

We arrived at the Great Hall for lunch and naturally went our separate ways. To my relief, all my friends were sitting at the Slytherin table; deep into conversation. As soon as I approached them, Leah's eyes lit up.

"Ava! Just the person I need!" She said excitedly.

"What —?" I was interrupted by Leah dragging me into the seat beside her.

"The boys seem to think that Bulgaria is better then Ireland," she shot Blaise and Draco a nasty glare. "Oh you know they're wrong, don't you?"

I rolled my eyes. "I hate to break it to you, but they're right."

Blaise and Draco both broke down laughing and high fived while Leah sighed in defeat.

"I told you she'd agree with us," Draco said through his laughter. "Now hand over the galleons."

Leah groaned and pulled out a sack of galleons to which Draco smiled in victory. "Just because they have Krum doesn't mean they're better! We have Troy and Mullet who are just as good!"
