"Don't worry, you're a halfblood which is good enough."
When I opened my eyes, I quickly gathered that I was sprawled upon the living room floor. The floors were of Ornate origin and the couches were made of the finest black leathers. Decorating the couches were furs of every texture, pattern, and size. The spacious room gave the air an odd twinge of despair and loneliness. The walls were painted a stunning chocolate brown and stamped with the Moonshine crescent. Hanging from the ceiling was an outstanding chandelier made of only the purest gold.
In my peripheral vision I spotted an amused looking Blaise and Leah who were both lazily leaning on one of the many leather couches. Leah released a light laugh and lowered her gaze from the fireplace onto me.
Blaise stood, arms crossed and eyebrows slightly raised.
"You alright?" Leah asked once she'd gathered her voice. "Your entrance wasn't exactly — er — smooth..." She chuckled once more and I rolled my eyes.
"Now get off the floor and move before Draco falls — ouch. That's gotta hurt... Well, I tried to warn you! Don't look at me like that!" Blaise raised his hands defensively into the air as I sent a glare his way. Draco had just appeared in the fire and fell right on top of me, definitely sprouting a bruise or two on my upper back.
Draco groaned as he used his hands that were on either side of me to push himself up. "Sorry," he muttered so quietly that for a moment I thought it was my mind playing tricks on me.
I hopped onto my feet and stood straight up, taking one last glance around Moonshine Mansion. "Wow," I said while letting out an audible breath.
Leah, Blaise, and Draco chuckled.
"I guess it's quite fancy for someone like you," Leah said as she playfully gestured towards me before continuing, "but it's normal for us."
"Normal?" I was appalled. Does every Pureblood live like this? I wonder... I'd been so used to the Dursleys' cheap two floor house and the Rose Manor, which is like a dollhouse compared to Leah's home . "This is brilliant! I was so used to my shitty bedroom at the Dursleys."
"Yep," Leah said in a less than enthusiastic manner. "It is pretty nice." She then turned around and clapped her hands together. "Lance, Cane! Could you please help my friends with their luggage?"
Suddenly two house elves appeared in front of us, each wearing a matching pair of shaggy pillowcases for clothes. "Of course Miss Moonshine," said the elf who stood on the right. His ears were pointed and his eyes bulged a bright blue.
"Anything for you," the other elf added. This elf had lopsided ears and bright brown eyes along with a much more shaky voice.
Both elves snapped their fingers and within a moment's notice all of the luggage began to levitate.
Leah turned back around towards us and smiled. "Follow me," she said as she waved us towards the exit of her living room. We entered a long hallway covered in paintings each filled with important witches and wizards. Most paintings were moving and conversing with one another, but some were stagnant.
"Do you know these people?" I asked after a few moments of walking.
She nodded. "Yeah, these are my ancestors. We purebloods cherish our family and wish to keep their memory alive."
"Oh." My gaze fell onto the floor. I felt out of place surrounded by only purebloods. Did they really hate everyone else?
Blaise laughed. "Don't worry, you're a halfblood which is good enough."
Soon enough we reached the end of the hall and entered into a ballroom holding two staircases. "Wow," I said. As we entered the ballroom it made me recognize how small and insignificant I was to this family. I was so insignificant in the long run, so no wonder they let me into their home so willingly...
