"You just got lucky,"

It was now Saturday morning, and Leah and I were sitting outside enjoying the gorgeous weather. The boys were still sleeping.

"Are you looking forward to the new year?" She asked while we strolled around the pond in her backyard. The grass was bright green and immensely soft, and the pond was clear and filled with various types of fish.

I shrugged.

"I guess, but recently I've learned some things that make me nervous about the upcoming school year..."

Leah furrowed her brows. "Why, what happened?"

"Well, last night, Cane, your elf... he told me that one of his elf friends wanted to chat with me."

"And who was this friend?" She questioned. "I didn't know he was in contact with other elves."

"This elf's name was Dobby, and he came to warn me not to return to Hogwarts this year... something is supposed to happen that will put Harry and I in danger."

Leah's eyes widened. "Did you say 'Dobby'?"

"Yeah, but I —"

She interrupted me mid-sentence.

"Dobby is Draco's House Elf! I didn't know that his family even allowed Dobby out of the house..." She looked seemingly deep in thought.

"Oh... well, maybe it'll be best if we don't mention this to him. I don't want to get Dobby into trouble. He seems very sweet!"

She nodded. "From what I've heard, Dobby is treated poorly."

"Oh, and also," I started, and Leah faced me once more. By now we stood on the bridge above the lake, watching the fish swim beneath us. "Draco came to my room last night and said the Chamber of Secrets might reopen this year..."

"Reopen?" Leah looked shocked. "You mean it's been opened before?"

"Yeah, he said that it had opened before, a few years back."

"Did he say by whom?" She seemed to get more and more interested.

I shook my head.

"No, he didn't."

She was about to keep talking when someone shouted both of our names. "Leah! Ava! Come on, the both of you need to head inside!"

I turned around and saw Blaise standing in the distance near the entrance of the mansion. Leah looked back at the water and sighed.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"My parents want me to work for the ministry when I'm older..."

I didn't understand how that was such a bad thing. "...and? How is that a bad thing?"

"Well, I never found interest in that! I've always loved the ocean. It was my favorite place when I was younger! Playing in the waves, trying to capture the fish, you know... When I'm older my dream is to study oceanic magical beasts but my family never approved. They said Pureblood witches need to do something meaningful with their life and not waste it on pathetic beasts."

I frowned. It was unfair how her parents already had her future planned out. She should be able to make choices for herself!

"If you want my advice, I think we're still young and that our aspirations could change, but I also believe that you shouldn't let your parents make those types of decisions for you. If you still truly want to work with beasts, then what's stopping you?"

She sighed and slowly shook her head. "It gets more complicated when you come from a family of purebloods... Our family has certain expectations that we have to live up to. If we don't live up to those expectations of society, then we'll be shunned."

My frown deepened, for I always believed that we shouldn't let society mold us. "I wouldn't care what society thought. To me, my happiness is all that matters."

Leah's shoulders raised, and she nodded. "I guess you're right, but it's just so hard to turn from my family." She then turned around and started towards her mansion, and I pursued.

"Why do you think we have to go inside?" I asked once I adjusted my walking pace.

She shrugged. "I don't know, but it might have to do with the meetings my parents are hosting today."

"Meetings?"

"Yeah," she replied. "That's why Blaise and Draco stayed over. Their parents were coming over today to have a meeting. It's something super important."

I nodded, and the rest of the walk to the mansion was silent.

The moment we opened the doors, Miss Moonshine's voice immediately met our ears. "You two were supposed to be back a long time ago!" She scolded.

Leah went to say something, but she was interrupted by Miss Moonshine's hand shooting up. "No, I don't want to hear your excuses. Now please head to the Library. Your other two friends are already there."

Leah and I quickly nodded and hurried up the right staircase towards the Library. She turned right at the top of the staircase and led me down a long hallway. At the end of the hallway, there was a pair of double doors. She carefully pushed the doors open and led me into the Library.

There were rows of bookshelves covering the vicinity and multiple desks for reading. In the far corner of the Library, I saw Blaise and Draco sitting at the table playing Wizard's chess. The both of them had their heads resting in their palms, looking extremely focused on the task at hand.

The moment we entered the room, both of them turned to us and smiled. I smiled back and quickly made my way over to where the boys were seated.

"Who's winning?" Leah asked as soon as we reached them. I took a seat next to Draco, and Leah sat next to Blaise. Draco grimaced, and Blaise had a victorious smile spread across his face.

"Since you asked, I actually just won!" Blaise said happily as Draco's last piece was smashed into pieces.

"For the third time in a row!"

Draco rolled his eyes. "You just got lucky," he mumbled, and Leah Blaise, and I broke down laughing. "What's so funny?" He snapped, which only made the three of us laugh harder.

"You're such a sore loser," Leah said through gasps.

"I am not!"

He raised his hands defensively and furrowed his brows.

"Yeah, you are," I added, and he playfully shoved my arm.

"Oh, shove off," he groaned.

For the rest of the night, the four of us stayed in the Library and out of the way of whatever meeting they were holding. Around nine in the evening, Miss Moonshine came and fetched us from the Library and sent us all to bed.

As I was crawling into bed that night, I started feeling an odd sensation in my mind. My eyes suddenly felt extremely heavy and my body felt exhausted, so I quickly gave into the sensation and shut my eyes, falling into an uneventful sleep...
