Potions

"Well? Why aren't you all copying this down like Miss Potter?"

The week flew by and before I knew it, Friday had arrived! For breakfast, I decided sitting with the Gryffindors would be best since I hadn't held a proper conversation with Harry in a few days.

"So, what do we have today?" Harry asked Ron who was looking at his schedule with furrowed brows.

"Double Potions with the Slytherins," Ron groaned. "Snape's head of the Slytherin house. They say he always favors them—we'll be able to see if that's true."

I tapped Harry on the shoulder, making him jump. "Hate to break it to you boys—but it's true." I gave them a fake pout that soon morphed into a smirk. "Even though, we might just be the best and everyone else sucks."

Ron looked away from his schedule and rolled his eyes. I was fairly sure that Ron didn't like me. For over the past week he'd barely spoken a word to me and keeps eyeing me like I'm about to jinx him. Probably because I'm a Slytherin... oh well. I could care less.

"Wish McGonagall favored us," Harry said Glumly.

Professor McGonagall was head of Gryffindor house and treated them like everyone else—which was good for me.

Mail arrived and surprisingly, Harry and I both received mail. Hedwig and Mavis flew over, each carrying an identical envelope within their talons. Mavis arrived first, swiftly landing on my shoulder and dropping the envelope on my lap. "Thank you Mavy," I said, patting her on the head and handing her some bread.

She hooted softly before quickly gobbling up the slice of bread. She then nibbled affectionately on my fingers before taking off once more, most likely towards the Owlery. "Go on Ava, open it!" Said Ron. I glanced around, catching the eyes of a certain blonde boy from Slytherin who was eyeing the envelope in my hand.

Ever since we'd agreed on being friends, he had been more polite—well, behind closed doors. In public he was practically the same; except, he doesn't insult me as much.

I ripped open the seal of the envelope and pulled out its contents. It read:

Dear Ava,

I know you get Friday afternoons off, so would you and Harry like to come and have a cup of tea with me around three? I want to hear all about your first week. I sent Harry the same letter, so use one of your owl's to write back.

Hagrid,

Harry smiled, ripping the letter from my hands and scribbling down a 'yes' for the both of us. I mean, no offense to Hagrid, but there are other things I'd rather do on a Friday afternoon. Having tea with him wasn't on my to-do-list. But for the sake of Harry, I shot him a fake smile and nodded; showing him I was just as excited.

Finishing my breakfast, I bid Harry a goodbye and met up with Leah right outside the Great Hall. She lazily greeted me and stifled a yawn, making me chuckle. "You need to get more sleep," I noted, taking in her sunken features.

She waved me off and shrugged. "There's no time for sleep when we're at Hogwarts!" An enthusiastic smile took over her face and I sighed.

"Yeah, well, sleep is more important than new surroundings."

"Fine." She rolled her eyes, but agreed to sleep more. "On to more pressing matters, you can't just leave me sitting all alone!" She scoffed, playfully shoving my side. "Other than you, everyone else is quite insufferable."

I chuckled but agreed to not ditch her again. No less then ten seconds later, we were approached by a quite determined looking Malfoy. Leah raised an eyebrow, confused to why he was seeking us out.
