"What do you want with me?"
I exited Hogwarts Express and spotted Kevin Rose leering in the corner of Platform 9 3/4. He continually checked his watch with a scowl. I waved goodbye to Blaise and Leah, then headed towards Selina; Draco by my side.
"Ava, Malfoy," Selina greeted, nodding her head. I knew she was trying to seem more proper in front of her uncle. My posture changed as well, when he laid his eyes on me. I cleansed my face of any emotion and nodded back. Draco raised his brows but caught on once he saw Mister Rose. "Let's head over," Selina muttered. I nodded and the three of us made our way towards him.
"Hello uncle," Selina greeted with a small smile and nod.
He returned the gesture. "Selina," he said, nodding back. He turned his gaze towards me and Draco. "Take hold of Selina's arm, we're apparating back to the manor.
I clenched my jaw and swallowed. I've never apparated before, but I've heard of it. And if I'm being completely honest, it doesn't sound so appealing.
I quickly took hold of Selina's arm while Draco grabbed my wrist. Suddenly, I felt my body churn and everything went black. I felt myself be thrown forward and into what seemed like a tunnel. My body was being twisted and turned in the most inhuman ways until I was suddenly thrown onto the ground.
My vision slowly came back and I glanced up, seeing a pair of silver gates lined with statues of the previous owners of the Manor. Two of them being Alisa and Benjamin Rose, Mister Rose's Great grandparents. Yet as soon as I glanced up, a wave of nausea rushed over me and I closed my eyes.
After a few more moments, I was able to lift myself up and remain balanced. Draco and Selina were both staring at me; completely fine. How could they be fine? Our bodies were tossed around like rag dolls!
My brain was still buzzed so it took me a moment to compute what they were saying.
"...has already gone inside, but we waited for you. Are you alright?"
I blinked and the nausea slowly faded away. I stood straight once more and nodded. "Mhm," I said, still feeling a bit woozy.
"You sure? It looked like you were about to have a fit or something," Draco pointed out.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm fine. I just needed a moment."
"You've never apparated before, have you?" He said, slightly amused.
"No, I haven't."
"Well, I'm going to head inside, food is calling!" Selina walked through the entrance to the grounds and headed for the Manor, practically skipping.
"At least we won't have to Owl each other," I said, in order to brighten the mood. "Not that we would," I added on hastily.
He scoffed, turning away from me and crossing his arms. "I don't think this is a good thing," he grunted.
I sighed and stepped closer to him. "You're right." I stood in front of him so I could look into his eyes. "This probably isn't a good thing. Actually, I know this isn't a good thing. I also know that one day we're going to have to fight. I don't know how soon, but in time, it will come... but who cares! We need to—to relish in the calm before it ends. Or—in this case, the semi calm."
