"The fact that you're scared of Floo Powder is quite amusing, you know."
"Did he just rip a page from a book?" Leah said from behind me, completely catching me off guard. "That's vandalism! What'd the book ever do to him?"
"Dunno," I replied thoughtfully. "He said he might need it for later..."
Blaise furrowed his brows. "May I see this book?" He asked and I nodded, grabbing the dusty book from the top of one of the many bookshelves. He took the book from my hands and quickly began to skim through the pages until he reached the one Draco ripped out. He then placed the book back onto the bookshelf and hurried down the staircase to join Draco.
Leah's eyes followed him down the staircase before inevitably falling onto me. "Well that was odd," she said.
"Yeah, no clue what that was about..." I strained my brain and tried to think of reasons for the latters strange behavior, but nothing sparked. "I'm sure we'll find out soon enough," I said after a while.
Leah nodded and the both of us finished heading down the stairs in order to join our friends.
Surprisingly — well, actually not surprising at all, Blaise, Harry, Draco, Ron, Hermione and Ron's younger sister, Ginny, were all glaring at each other. Scratch that — they were all glaring at Draco. Even Blaise.
Those two always found a way to piss the trio off.
"Famous Harry Potter," Draco spat. "Can't even go into a bookshop without making the front page!"
"Draco—" Blaise started but got cut off by Ginny, whose face was a deep shade of red.
She took a 'menacing' step forward in order to appear intimidating. "Leave him alone," she said with her eyes barely open as she glared at the boy.
I glanced towards Leah and groaned. "Guys, this is stupid," I said, to break up their argument.
It didn't work.
"Oh look, Potter!" You've got yourself a girlfriend?" Drawled Malfoy.
Alright, that's it. Standing in between the two boys, I raised my arms. "Enough," I ordered with enough conviction to catch everyone's attention.
Draco glared at Harry but said nothing, but Harry wasn't as bright. "I could say the same for you, Malfoy."
I spun on my heel towards my dearest brother, who was now in for a treat. "What did you just say? Go on, say it again..." There was a pause, where I slid my tongue against my top teeth and smirked. "I dare you."
Harry gulped. Before he could respond, the bitter and demanding voice of Lucius Malfoy cut through the air. How'd I know this, you may ask? Well, once you've heard his voice, there's no way in hell you'll forget it.
Draco, Leah and I shifted my body and faced, as I predicted, Lucius Malfoy, who stood in the shop's entrance. The man who was previously monitoring the entrance was now tucked into the corner, his hands on his knees.
"What's going on?" He asked, dropping his expressionless gaze onto us. "You four," Mister Malfoy gestured towards Leah, Draco, Blaise and I, "need to come with me... You've been here way too long now."
He then peered up from the four of us and smirked. "Well, well, well... Arthur Weasley," sneered Lucius. Mister Weasley, who was now standing beside Ron, granted a fraudulent smile towards Lucius.
"Busy time at the Ministry, I hear," said Mister Malfoy. "All those raids... I hope they're paying you overtime?" He reached into Ginny's cauldron and extracted amid the glossy Lockhart books, an ancient, very battered copy of A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration. "Obviously not... Dear me, what's the use of being a disgrace to the name of a wizard if they don't even pay you well for it?"
