It got easier as time went on, it was almost easter now, only a couple more days till then but I wasn't expecting to be standing in the living room of the manor Draco once lived in, staring at the boy who used to be my best friend though unrecognizable.

"Iris would know if its him—" Lucius started and I tore my eyes away from the brunette to look at Draco who stood beside me with his hand in mine "they used to be friends" he seemed sure to trust me when I didn't even know if I could do so myself.

"well how would you know she wouldn't lie! like you said they used to be friends" a snatcher said and all eyes were on me as I looked at the blonde beside me.

"she is my son's girlfriend, she'd never risk him for Potter" Lucius assured, knowing that was the truth because I never would as he was the reason I was here still "she is trust worthy" finally I looked away from Draco and my eyes fell on the brunette.

"Go on—is it him?" Draco asked, he knew the answer already despite the fact that half his face was swollen. I hesitated to get closer even after I let go of the blondes hand.

I had to choose, lie or tell the truth.

"I'm not sure" I lied, looking over at Lucius who almost seemed suspicious of me "come closer—" I was being pulled forward by Bellatrix forcing me down to my knees and becoming eye level with the boy infront of me "take your time- we must be sure"

"I-" I felt conflicted on what to do as I locked eyes with the boy infront of me "I'm not sure I'm sorry" I said as I felt Draco's presence beside me probably understanding what I was feeling.

"if we turn him in to the dark lord and its not him he will kill us" the witch hissed and I closed my eyes taking in a deep breath "I'd be more sure if his face wasn't so messed up" another lie "I'm sorry, I can't be sure if its him"

I felt bad for betraying them but I couldn't bring myself to risk Voldemort winning the war.

"liar" she spat calmly as she stood up "just like your pathetic mother!" I didn't say anything instead I glanced at the blonde who glared at her "Auntie" he hissed quietly in attempt to keep her in check.

He was kneeled beside me, rubbing his hand down my back "take your time my love" he whispered as I brought my gaze back to the brunette.

I knew Draco knew it was Potter especially judging by the tone in his voice and the way his hand ran fown my back gently.

His face was swollen and I could barely make out the lightening bolt shaped scar on his forehead, his eyes almost held a desperate look.

"His face is all deformed and you expect me to be able to tell who it is?" I snapped, looking at the witch who seemly agreed with my statement.

"that is true. . . what is wrong with his face?" She asked looking behind me as Draco helpped me up and I felt myself slowly stop paying attention to the surrounding area, I was dizzy and overwhelmed something that Draco had noticed.

He wrapped his arm around my waist keeping me from fainting as he walked me to get something to drink but the minute we entered the kitchen I found my arms around his neck and crying as he held me.

His hand ran up and down my back "its okay—you're okay. . .I'm here let it out" he whispered with Bellatrix's yells muffled in the background echoed through the house.

He pressed kisses on my forehead then pressed his forehead against mine "focus on me not what's happening in there okay? open your eyes, look at me" and I did slowly, opening my eyes seeing him.

"its him" I hushed, tears flowing down my cheeks still "it's him draco" I repeated and he moved his hand to rest on my cheek "I know" he told me pushing my hair behind my ear "trust me I know"

I flinched when a blood curdling scream broke through the air causing me to breathe heavily when I realized who it was that was screaming.

I froze and my eyes widened "Hermonie" I mouthed as Draco grabbed my arm to keep me from running into the room.

"Don't—you don't know what they'll do to you as far as they know you hate them especially Granger" he whispered and I knew he was right about that, if I went in and looked concerned at all they would know I lied.

He covered my ears and made me look at him as an attempt to keep me calm, it had reminded me to much of out time here when he would have to do this exact thing, keeping me calm.

Closing my eyes; I took a deep breath, bringing my hands up to his letting them rest on top of his.

I relaxed against his touch before feeling him step forward, pressing his lips to my forehead.

the manor fell silent and Draco removed his hands from my ears letting them fall to my shoulders as I looked at him.

"My love" he started getting my attention "if you want to go we can go home" he said and I couldn't help but smile.

Home

"That'd be nice" I hushed as he slowly leaned in and kissing me causing us both to tune out everything around us till Bellatrix yelled loudly for us.

The kiss broke and Draco pulled us into the other room, his arm wrapped around my waist as his aunt smirked telling him to grab the wands that laid on the floor.

Doing as he was told he stayed where he was, standing between me and any line of fire from his aunt as if to protect me from whatever the witch may attempt to me as it was now clear.

I was lying.

He glanced back at me and took another step back without her noticing.

I was terrified of what she'd do especially when she locked eyes with me, an evil smile forming when she noticed the fear in my eyes.

"Iris Fay" she said slowly raising an eyebrow "you dare lie to your own boyfriends family?" calmly she said as she brought the dagger in her hand to Hermonie's neck as if to get a reaction out of me as she laid on the floor, crying before pulling her up and forcing her to stand.

Draco glanced back at me, giving me an apologetic glance "Bella she didn't—she didn't know" Narcissa defended from behind me and shocking her sister.

A hand on my shoulder made me flinch as she walked past me and stood next to the blonde who I had adored more than anyone else and leaned into his ear when Bellatrix wasn't looking.

I quickly ran behind him, holding his hand as his mom walked behind her sister to distract her, Draco looked back at me giving me a soft, sad smile.

He wanted to go home, so badly did he want to go home and I could see it in his eyes as he looked at me, he was exhausted.

Turning to face me fully he looked down at me with a different look "I'll keep you safe, that I promise but you need to go ho-" he stopped when a loud squeaky sound came from above.

Draco turned and instantly took cover, pulling me with him and before I could ask a loud crash shook the room and I was pressed into his chest as he we fell back on the floor.

He fell on top of me after he turned us do that nothing would hit me, instead his weight caused my head to slam against the floor and I let out a hiss.

He immediately brought his weight off me and looked at me worryingly.

"shit- are you okay?" He placed his hand under my head, as to cusion it, I looked up at him unable to hide the tears that formed in my eyes.

"yeah—I'm fine" I breathed and he gave me a sad smile that almost screamed I'm sorry, the two words I knew he'd repeat when we had returned home.

Moving beside me he helped me to my feet, my head pounding as he wrapped his arm around my waist incase I fainted.

I swayed, from side to side as he held me, not really hearing anything but I still watched as the trio apparated away with Dobby and how Bellatrix threw her dagger towards them.

then everything went dark
