It smelled of cinnamon when I woke up which told me that my aunt had prepared breakfast for my cousin and I before we set off to hogwarts for yet another year in a few hours.
I liked to get there early so I could sit alone on the train before my friends showed up but this year it would be different, two of my best friends Ivy Wolfe and Ruby Meadows arriving with us.
So I grabbed my classes putting them on before pulling myself out of bed and making my way to the kitchen where cinnamon rolls sat on the table ready to be eaten by the 4 of us.
"Good moring Iris" my aunt greeted with the warm smile she always did before gesturing towards the door that leads to the livingroom "would you mind getting the girls; tell them breakfast is ready" she asked sipping on her coffee and reading the daily profit.
I nodded as my eyes caught the attention of the newspaper in her hands "escape from Azkaban? Someone escaped?" I asked trying to get a better look at who it was that escaped but failed when my aunt folded the newspaper and told me again to go tell the girls breakfast was ready.
I rolled my eyes and pushed open the door to the livingroom to tell them breakfast was ready when the owl came by dropping off some letters for us.
"I see Pansy didn't waste time sending her letter" Ivy chuckled as she walked past me grabbing the letter and looking at me "and I think I know why she sent it, happy birthday Iris" she handed me the letter as I sat down at the table.
Taking the letter I opened it to read it before eating my breakfast "I would appreciate it if you didn't make my birthday a big deal please" I announced looking around the table like I did every year.
I hated my birthday, never saw anything interesting in it other than leaving for hogwarts. Infact I counted down the hours for the day to pass thats how much I didn't like it.
"c'mon Iris let us sing you happy birthday to you at least" Ruby begged making me look over at her raising an eyebrow which seemed to startle her slightly as she shook her head telling me nevermind.
Breakfast went by as usual, my aunt asking us if we were excited to leave for hogwarts for our 3rd year which started the topic of what we were looking forward to the most.
Of course though I answered with potions while the others all said something different like being away from home, the food or simply seeing friends.
All I did this summer break was read up on potions or whatever book I could get my hands on. Even now at the table I was reading my book and walking to my room to get ready I was reading.
Till my book was ripped out of my hands and I was sitting on my bed with my eyes narrowed at the red haired girl infront of me "Ruby what the hell" I hissed ripping the book from her hands and placing it on my bed next to me.
"Get dressed your aunt wants to leave as soon as possible" she told me narrowing her eyes back at me before walking out of the room completely closing the door behind her.
I fell back hitting the bed to stare at my ceiling. My dirty blonde hair falling across my face lazily as I let out a loud huff that pushed my hair out of my face.
I turned my head looking at the clock before sitting up and getting ready for our day by throwing on a black tank top, a green flannel and some high wasted jeans before walking out my bedroom.
"Next stop, kings cross station"
