I went back to the suite the next morning. I was still mad about last night, but I knew I was wrong for acting out like that. I wasn't wrong for how I felt because I'm entitled to my own feelings, but I was wrong for my behavior. Plus, she was wrong as hell.
I knew I was going to have to go through Mercedes. She's like Shawnie's guard dog. So I have to talk to her first. Funny enough, she is the easy one to talk to. I knew I had to apologize to her, too. I was disrespectful to both of them.
I walked in, and she was standing at the door.
"Oh my bad!" I say moving out of the way. "You're about to leave?"
"Yes. Are you good?" She asks
"Yeah, I'm cool. Can we talk for a minute?" I ask, I'm so nervous. Only because I don't know what she's going to say to me, is she going to cuss me out or what?
"Sure." She closes the door, and we walk into the kitchen.
"So I wanted to apologize for how I acted last night. I was wrong." I say
"Apology accepted. You know I love you. It's forgotten. But I swear, I better not hear you talking to her like that again... and don't call her by her name. That's disrespectful."
"I was messed up for that," I say
"We all know she's a bitch sometimes, but don't verbalize it."
"You're right. I'm working on being better."
"I know you are, and you have to be better for her, too. I'm going to be real with you, she's going through it right now. I know you have your own feelings about what happened, and I don't want to take away from how you feel, but you need to consider what she's been going through. I think she's suffering from postpartum depression, but I'm not a doctor, and I don't know. You need to talk to her about that."
"What does that mean?"
"Basically, she's just having a hard time adjusting to being a new mom. When she says she needs you, she really does. Uncle Steve and I can only do so much to help her, but you, being the closest person to her, can really help her get through this. So, all of what you did last night, I refuse to let that happen again. I swear to God, I will shoot you in your damn foot."
I believe her. She will definitely shoot me. What is she doing with her family and guns?
"I'll be nicer and help her with whatever she needs. Ima try to get in her head and see what's going on." I say, "The last thing I want her to feel is like I don't care about her or her well-being." I say honestly.
"I don't think that's what she thinks. I think she feels you care more about the baby than you do about her. So I understand you don't really know because you haven't been through this before, but you have to make her feel loved. She said she's not feeling that."
