Shawnie's POV

The next morning, my phone rang. It was Chris.

I stared at the screen for a second before answering, my stomach tightening just a little.

Aubrey and I were in bed, the TV playing low in the background. He had stayed the night, but went home early that morning. He showered, changed, then came right back. He showed up with breakfast and lay back in bed, as this had already become routine.

He was leaving town in a couple of days, and he said he wanted to spend today with me—no hiding or sneaking around.

Since Chris knew now... There was nothing to hide anyway. We are friends-ish.

He told me he wanted to take me to Nobu since I'd never been there and said it was his favorite spot.

A real date. In public. With cameras, probably. With consequences, definitely.

My phone was still ringing in my hand. For a second, everything felt like it was about to collide again.

I looked at my phone, then I looked back at Aubrey. He was lying next to me in bed.

"What, is that him?" He asks

"Yeah."

"Answer it, it's cool." He says, turning his attention back to the TV, "If you want me to go, I will."

"No, I don't want you to go, but I don't know what type of conversation is going to be."

"Just answer the phone." He says

"Hello?" I answer

"Can you talk?" I hear Chris say from the other side of the phone.

"Yeah, what's going on? How are you?" I ask, trying to make everything seem good.

"I'm okay, you?" He asks

I sigh, "Chris—I'm sorry for going off like that yesterday."

"I know, me too. I'm sorry for everything, but I have a question." He says, sounding like he has an attitude.

"What's up?"

"Why is Drake's Phantom in your driveway?" He asks

"Huh?"

"He spent the night? He's been here all fucking night." He says

"Chris, you've been sitting outside my house?" I say, and Aubrey looks at me.

"Yeah, what the fuck is he doing there?" He says, raising his voice.

"Chris—I'm not going to do this with you." I see Aubrey getting up, and I grab him by the shirt, making him sit back down on my bed.

"Open the door, Shawnie," Chris says. Then I hear banging on my front door.

"No, I'm not opening the door. Chris, go home." I say

"Nah. Go, let him in," Drake says as he stands back up, and Chris hears him.

"TELL THAT BITCH TO COME OUTSIDE!" He yells
