Kendra had been summoned to see Albus Dumbledore again. She was not particularly happy about it, as it meant she had to miss a Hogsmede visit, and with one of the first snows on the ground, Kendra had actually been looking forward to visiting Hogsmede, for once in her life. But still, a part of her wanted to make herself promise to bite her tongue and not insult Dumbledore.

That part of her was very small.

As she found herself sitting in the chair that had become familiar to her, she could tell that biting her tongue was not on today's schedule.

"How are you today, Kendra?" Dumbledore asked, if only for semantics.

"Quite frankly, I would be much better if I was spending it in Hogsmede with my cousin and my girlfriend," Kendra replied smoothly, not bothering to catch herself if only to be more dramatic- Dumbledore could read minds, he certainly already knew. Besides, she might have won McGonagall a bet or two. Everyone knew that Dumbledore made bets with the staff about student affairs and everyone knew that McGonagall won almost every time.

"Ah yes, young love," Dumbledore said, smiling pleasantly now. "I truly am sorry to rip you away from that, but this was the best time.

'Wouldn't be the first time you've ripped me away from something,' Kendra thought sarcastically to herself. Morgana (because of course Morgana was listening) cackled with mirth.

'Oh, Kendra, I do love when you're spiteful,' Morgana bit in. Kendra ignored her, for the most part, though it was nice to have someone enjoy her snide comments.

"Might we skip the pleasantries, professor?" Kendra asked, her tone dryer than she had intended. Dumbledore's eyes twinkled with mischief.

"Of course, my dear," Dumbledore obliged. "How are our two young Slytherins holding up?"

"Quite poorly, to be frank," Kendra replied. "They've accepted my help, but most of their time and energy is spent shielding others from themselves. Neither of them are enthusiastic for me to help, of course."

"Naturally," Dumbledore nodded. "Professor Snape has told me much of the same, though Draco does seem much less willing to let him help than it would seem you."

"Well, I would assume that is because I am not Professor Snape," Kendra retorted. "Which, I am sure you have met, and could quite possibly understand why someone would not be so eager to have him trailing them like an overgrown shadow."

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled with amusement. "You are remarkably like your cousin, Kendra, and it does not surprise me that your dislike of Professor Snape is so similar as well."

"To the point," Kendra cut in, "there is really no juicy gossip for you this time, professor. Neither of them is very eager to make an attempt on your life or to give Hogwarts up to Lord Voldemort. Much of the struggle at this point is with themselves and convincing themselves that they could even do such a thing."

"As I assumed," Dumbledore continued, ignoring Kendra's tone outwardly at the very least. Maybe it was his pity of her that let her get away with being so snarky, maybe it was because she still held a purpose in his eyes. Either way, she didn't feel very inclined to stop. "This meeting was less to see their progress and more to inform you of what you must do once the pieces being to fall into place."

"After your death," Kendra clarified, not trying to be insensitive. If Dumbledore cared, he did not show it at all.

"Yes, after I have died. I am currently attempting to locate all of Lord Voldemort's Horcruxes. I am almost positive that I will not find them all before my death, much less destroy them. This will be Harry's task, though he does not explicitly know it. I am sure that he will take Miss Granger and Mister Weasley with him. He may ask you to join him as well, though my grasp on his character tells me that he will likely attempt to go alone, and his friends will join him," Dumbledore explained. Kendra shifted in her chair slightly, realizing how much of the future this man had planned out, all depended on Harry's faith in Dumbledore. In that moment, Kendra knew that his faith in Dumbledore would be what eventually saved the world, and she knew better than to question that.
