Kendra watched, the pit in her stomach filled with anxiety as the Sunday sun set over the grounds of Hogwarts from her place at the Astronomy tower. The day had been beautiful, marred by the gnawing anticipation of what she knew would transpire that evening and the fates of those who were tied to it.

She thought about a lot as the late spring sun painted the sky with its final streaks of red and gold as the night's washes of deep blue and purple consumed the twilight sky, mostly about Hermione. There was a chance, one she could not help but think about, that she would never see Hermione again. The thought itself was pain and guilt as she wondered what might have been if they had both just stayed out of this, wondered if they had wasted time fighting over things neither of them could control over the past year. Maybe in one world, Kendra could have went to a jeweler and spent hours searching for the perfect diamond that sparkled the same as Hermione did. Maybe she could have taken Hermione out on a picnic in a forever spring meadow with deep cerulean skies where they would share a bottle of pumpkin juice before Kendra would sit up to get down on one knee and ask Hermione to marry her. Maybe in celebration to their engagement, they would travel all over the world just to shout from every capital how in love they were, or to dine in the finest restaurants, or take a midnight cruise down the river Seine in Paris where they might share a kiss in the dark, as though no one was watching. And then, after a few months of careful planning, they would finally be wed in a small ceremony, big enough for each of their friends and family to attend, none of them caring that it was a wedding between to women, but simply that those two women were happy.

But that was not the future Kendra could see for her and Hermione. Not now, when all she could she was death and bloodshed and violence in the days to come.

Looking up at the plum, star filled sky, she realized she had waited for far too long. Standing from her cross-legged position with a groan, only vaguely noticing a fresh violet splotch on her knee where the soft flesh had come in contact with cold, hard ground, Kendra stretched slightly and made her way down the stairs, drawing her wand.

It was eerily quiet for all of five minutes as she carefully made her way down the corridor before she ran into Draco. "Draco?" She asked carefully.

"What are you doing, Kendra?" He hissed, clearly tense and already frustrated with the lot he had been given in life. "I thought you were going to hide?"

"Where are they?" Kendra asked softly, ignoring his question.

"With Theodore," he replied. "Wait, Kendra, you're not going to go find them, are you?"

"'Course not," Kendra lied easily, the knot in her stomach twisting uneasily.

"Go to the Hospital Wing, or something. Somewhere you'll be safe," Draco shook his head, taking in a deep breath and starting to move in the direction Kendra had come from.

"I'm sorry, Draco," Kendra said, Draco turning to face her. "Even if you're a bit of a prick sometimes."

Even his smile seemed grave. As he turned and disappeared down the corridor, Kendra briefly wondered what would have happened if she had told her fourteen year old self that she would have been friends with Draco Malfoy, the same boy who had done her and so many others around her so much harm over the years. Sighing, she moved away from the thought, supposing that her fatal flaw was seeing the good in people who might not have deserved it.

'You know, I think he might be right,' Morgana interrupted Kendra's thoughts. 'If you want to be found, the Hospital Wing might be a good place to go.'

'Thanks,' Kendra replied briefly, not questioning Morgana at this point, though she was still sure the witch had more motives than just entertainment. Without another thought towards it, Kendra started her way to the Hospital Wing.

"Miss Dursley?" Madam Pomfrey asked, seeing Kendra as soon as she walked through the doors.

"I've got a migraine," Kendra said, not a total lie. Her head had started to pound out of stress.

Madam Pomfrey sighed. "Sit down on the bed for a moment, Miss Dursley, I've got to go and brew another batch of potion, I've just used the last of it." With one last glance, Madam Pomfrey strolled out of the Hospital Wing doors, the large double glass doors clicking locked behind her.

Kendra was the only one in the Hospital Wing and the eerie silence returned. She could hear the clock in Madam Pomfrey's office clicking out the seconds, her own bated breath as she waited for it all to happen, even the sound of the dust seething against the windowsills seemed to echo throughout her mind as she waited for the unknown.

The unknown did not make her wait long. Kendra had been staring out the window, slightly distracted by the Dark Mark that had appeared over the Astronomy tower when Bellatrix Lestrange herself smashed through the glass of the Hospital Wing doors.

"Well, well, well, I did think I'd find you in here," Bellatrix smiled. "Hello, Kendra."

Kendra stared at Bellatrix, summoning every drop of bravery that she could and swallowing her fear, trying to use every ounce of DNA that she shared with Harry to find the courage inside of her. "Are you here to kill me?" she blurted out- not what she had planned out in her hear at all.

Bellatrix smile turned sad. "As much as I would sometimes like to," she sighed, approaching Kendra slowly, her lips fully in a pout, "not today, darling. Today, you're coming with me. So, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way." At the mention of the hard way, she smiled with all of her teeth, as though even the idea of it delighted her.

Kendra tossed her wand at Bellatrix's feet, mentally checking that she had everything on her that she would need. She had stuffed as much of her medication into her bra as she could and prayed that none of the Death Eaters would be foul enough to check there, or would at least have some form of pity on her. She had a sharp rock in her shoe- a bad idea, admittedly, as she was pretty sure her toe as bleeding but it was the only thing she thought she might be able to get away with. "Sorry, Bella. I don't want a fight today," she said, finally summoning her courage.

"Pity," Bellatrix pouted, flicking her wand as ropes bound Kendra, digging tightly into her skin. "Not nice is it? Now, come along, mudblood. We're going to go see Albus Dumblesnore." Bellatrix flicked her wand and Kendra began to hover behind her, not missing that Bellatrix had pocketed her wand for safe-keeping.

It had begun. And Kendra knew that now, there was no turning back.

a/n: okay first of all this story is almost at 200k reads like what? that's so wild. and second, i hope you liked the chapter. If you're worried that Kendra is going to be a Death Eater, don't forget that she's still a muggle born, she would never be allowed. But as for exactly what her situation is, I will let that be revealed in the next book! which is probably going to start the chapter after next (which I'm sure I say every single chapter lol I just had a lot to say in this one and it would have been too bulky if I tried to include the ending in it as well)
