A long day of keeping Hermione company in the library and attempting to completely ignore the existence of Viktor Krum, Kendra finally saw her friends in the Great Hall during dinner, just before the Goblet of Fire would choose the three champions.
"Viktor Krum was in the library" was the first thing Kendra said to Lisa as she sat down. Damon turned around slightly and quirked an eyebrow at the blonde.
"Doesn't seem like the library type," Damon sais slowly, like he was tasting each word as it came out of his mouth. Lisa frowned slightly and took a bite of potatoes instead.
"He had his harem with him, didn't he," Lisa sighed, her frown deepening. She wasn't really asking a question.
"Depends on what kind of friend you'd looking for today," Kendra said, smiling nervously. "Do you want the truth or do you want me to lie to you and sacrifice your feelings?"
"Either way, I already know the answer," Lisa said. "It's fine, I've only known him for one day and I'm already acting like we're married and have a child named Nikolas that knows Bulgarian, French and English..." Lisa trailed off. Damon shook his head.
"Daydream much, Lisa?" Mabel asked. Lisa blushed.
"He's not just a quidditch player, he's an artist. Am I not allowed to have a celebrity crush?" Lisa said. "I'm perfectly aware that it's unrealistic and I'll end up married to Goyle."
"It's a bit odd since you basically live in the same place, but hey, no shame. I've had a crush on the lead singer of the Weird Sisters since I was five," Mabel shrugged.
"I had a crush on the weatherwoman when I was like ten," Kendra said patting her friend's shoulder.
"There's no way Goyle would marry you anyway," Luna said, smiling. "You're muggleborn, and he wouldn't be able to see your brillance beyond that."
"I've right dodged a bullet there," Lisa said, laughing slightly. "I'd be a bloody awful housewife, but even less for Gregory Goyle." She shivered in disgust at the thought.
"His first name is Gregory?" Damon asked, turning back to stare at the Slytherin, who was sat next to a very uncomfortable looking Emelia Thimbleton.
The conversation as Dumbledore stood in front of the goblet and the food disappeared from the golden plates. "It is time for the Goblet of Fire to make its choices on champion from each school," Dumbledore surveyed the student body as he spoke.
There was a pause of whispers and electric excitement coursing through the air. The goblet's fire, once a cool blue, was now an angry red. It shuddered violently and produced a tiny piece of paper, sighed and smoking on the edges.
"The champion from Durmstrang is..." Dumebledore paused to open the piece of parchment. "Viktor Krum!"
"Well done, Viktor, I knew you'd do me proud," the sulfurous voice of Karkaroff carried through the whole room as Krum shook hands with Dumbledore. As he was being directed to the back room, Lisa leaned over to Kendra.
"How much do you want to bet that Karkaroff fixed it so Krum would get the nomination?" Lisa muttered.
"None, I'm already a galleon in debt to you," Kendra replied. The fire changed color again and another piece of smoldering paper shot out. Dumbledore caught it with ease. "The champion from Beauxbatons is... Fleur Delacour."
An exceptionally pretty blonde girl stood up from the Ravenclaw table. Unlike the Durmstrang students, who had all seemed veryqq happy for Krum, many of the Beauxbatons students clapped politely at best and broke into tears of defeat at worst. Fleur offered some of her sobbing peers an apologetic smile before joining Krum in the back room.
