"Potter knows what's up with you?" Lisa asked after a long pause between Hermione's departure and Lisa's words.

"We've known each other practically our whole lives," Kendra sighed. "He just happens to know me well enough to know what kind of illnesses I contract regularly."

"I find that hard to believe," Lisa snorted. "Something's up. Is this all a plot against all of us? One that he's in on?"

"No, I'm not trying to murder all of you," Kendra rolled her eyes, her mind still caught on Hermione. Sure, it hadn't gone as well as it could have (it didn't end with Hermione leaping into Kendra's arms to proclaim her love for her), but it certainly didn't go as horribly as it could have.

"Et tu, Brute?" Lisa proclaimed, gasping at Kendra. Damon rolled his eyes.

"Nerd," he scoffed at Lisa, who replied with a sly smile.

"That fact that you knew of my nerdiness proves that you too are a nerd," Lisa said. Madam Pomfrey was alerted by the loud bursts of laughter that followed the comment and was shooing away Kendra's friends in an instant.

"Out, out, the girl needs space, visiting hours ended five minutes ago!" Madam Pomfrey cried, waving the group of teenagers away. They stood, most of them still laughing, and sauntered out of the hospital wing, each of them offering their goodbyes to Kendra in their way out.

"Does everything feel alright again?" Madam Pomfrey asked, once again starting tests on Kendra. She sighed.

"I guess," Kendra replied shortly.

"You're free to go to dinner then," Madam Pomfrey said, her eyes watching Kendra like a hawk as she shifted upwards and rose from the bed. "Don't hesitate to come in, Miss Dursley. Your condition may be rare, but that doesn't mean you have to be alone."

Kendra stared at Madam Pomfrey for a moment, guilt burning into her chest as her eyes seared holes into the spot on the floor where the matron had been. She was alone when it came to her illnesses, but it wasn't by force. It was by choice. But no matter how much she wondered what would happen if she told her friends about her condition, the chronic pain, swollen joints, bruises that never seemed to go away. She pushed the thought away and, once again dressed in her robes, headed to dinner.

As she passed the Gryffindor table, she paused. Harry has called her name out in her way over to the Ravenclaw table, where her friends were eagerly awaiting her. She made eye contact with her cousin, who waved vigorously at her. Sighing at his obliviousness to the amount of eyes on the hall that were now on them, she made her way over to him and took a seat next to him.

"You're alright?" Harry asked Kendra as she sat down, directly across from Granger and Weasley. Kendra nodded. "Hermione said it was the..." he trailed off, looking at her pointedly.

"Please don't talk about it," Kendra replied, wearily. "It's only adding to my stress."

"You're one of the best in our year, Kens, and it's only the first day of class," Harry replied. "What's there to be stressed about?"

Kendra paused for a moment, glancing over at Weasley and Granger briefly. They were both clearly invested in the conversation. She made a split second decision. "Not anymore," Kendra sighed, playing along with her lie. "My migraines really got to me this summer, I felt like I didn't understand any of the homework and now I've gone and missed the first day. I'm going to get a troll on every single one of my owls at this rate. Even Crabbe and Goyle could do better than that."

"I doubt that," Ron snorted, bursting into the conversation. Hermione elbowed him, watching Kendra.

"Thank you for the support, Weasley," Kendra sighed. "And thanks for coming to see me in the hospital wing, Granger. I'll see you around, Harry. Maybe you can help me find a tutor."

With a smile at her cousin and his friends, she stood and returned to her own table, her heart beating in her chest.
