Chapter 39

Chapter 39----------------------

*buzzzzz buzzzzz buzzz*

Alex breathed through her mouth as the needle made contact with her sensitive skin again. Surprisingly the buzzing was slightly comforting. The pain made her relax. She could hear Kate giggling and chatting up the tattoo artist in the next room.

"You sure you want it this big?"

"Yep" Alex said popping the 'p'.

The artist seemed to like her response as he smiled widely.

"I haven't done a piece like this in a while"

Alex grinned at him.

"Knock your self out"

Alex opened her eyes to Kate thumping her in the nose.

"Ow! What the hell Kate?!"

" I'm done!" she shoved her wrist in Alex's face.

'Stay Strong' was beautifully etched into her skin in bold black swirling letters. The tattoo was shadowed by a midnight blue that sett off the letters.

"it looks awesome Kate!"

"I know!" she squealed then gave Alex a confused look.

"why're you sleeping on a tattoo table?"

"oh!" Alex exclaimed shooting into a sitting position.

"are we done?" she yelled out into the tattoo shop.

The big burly man who had given her the tattoo poked his head inside the door.

"yes maam! You fell asleep on me and I finish you up... That's never happened to me before" he said laughing.

"finished you up? Wha- what the hell I'm confused"

Alex stood up raising her shirt up to show Kate.

"SWEET BABY JESUS YOU GOT A TATTOO!" Kate yelled pointing at Alex's stomach.

Alex laughed and winced at the burning sensation on her hips. She looked down to admire her own tattoo.

On her right hip was an antique wire bird cage with the door hanging open there were multiple birds flying across her lower stomach until they landed on a tree inked onto her left hip and at the top of the whole masterpiece was the quote she'd seen in the book. 'free yourself' --------------------------------

After paying for their masterpieces Alex decided to treat her sister to a movie as well. They went and watched the new horror movie 'mama'. After it ended Alex was almost on her knees laughing as they walked back to the car.

"that's just bullshit! That's a scary ass movie! Why didn't you let me leave?!"

Alex couldn't breath so she just clapped like a retarted seal.

"stop laughing!" Kate yelled at smacked Alex's head.

And the snorting began. Which in turn caused Kate to start laughing. They pretty much fell into the car and laughed for about fifteen minutes.

"ah my stomach hurts" Kate hiccuped as she wiped her eyes.

"I needed that" Alex admitted leaning her head back against the head rest.

"me too" Kate said softly

Alex looked over at her raising an eyebrow.

"you know how they are." kate said answering the unasked question.

"I know mom and dad can be a little rough"

"a little rough? Yea we'll go with that"

"ok they're a lot rough. But you don't have to deal with that anymore"

"I still have to go home Alex. They're not going to let me stay here forever. When we go home for winter break... They'll make me stay."

"you're going to college next year Kate. You could move out! You don't have to stay there and put up with them"

"what do you expect me to do Alex?"

"leave.. Move in with me"

Kate sat there for a moment shocked.

"you're just in a fairly new relationship Alex you don't want your little sister hanging around."

"says who? I miss you Kate"

"I miss you too"

"then that settles it. When we go hone we tell mom and dad you're moving.... Wether they like it or not"--------------------------------------------------------
