"how was your date last night lass?" asked ms Jen as she cleaned up the remains of breakfast. Luke, Collin and Tom had left early that morning to go on a all male fishing trip. Leaving the house to the girls.

"it was good" Alex said nervously chewing her bottom lip.

"but?" asked Jen recognizing the nervous habit.

"but we ran into an olivia?"

Rage burned in jens green eyes.

"ugh that twit. There is no one on Gods green earth I'd rather throttle "

"agreed" Alex murmured.

"she broke my Lucas's heart that one."

"yea he told me about it last night"

"do you love my Lucas dear?"

Alex looked up and into Jens eyes.

"I love your son more than my life itself"

"don't hurt him lass. He deserves a happily ever after. And judging by those shadows in your eyes I'd say you do too"

"you're very wise mrs Jen."

"aye... You didn't think he got the smarts from his father did ya?" she scoffed.

They both laughed and looked toward the door as Kate and Macy pranced inside.

"where have you two been?" Alex asked

"we went to the store for some ale! You can't have a girls day without alcohol"

"I agree with you dearie"

"thanks for taking us da I had a great day" Luke said as him and Collin helped his father un load the truck.

"not a problem boyo. I needed some time with my boys." said Tom ruffling their hair.

"but we best be checking on our women folk"

"I agree!" Collin said his eyes lighting up.

Luke just smiled and walked up the steps to the house. He could hear music playing and a bunch of girlish giggles.

"and I ask you friend what's a fellow to do when her hair was black and her eyes were blue!" Alex sang along with the music.

Luke grinned to him self when he walked into the living room. Alex and Macy were attempting to dance the two step together and so was Kate and his mother.

"may I cut in lass?" Tom asked Kate.

"but of course" Kate said with a hiccup and a little more giggle than normal.

"I think your woman is drunk lad" Luke said to Collin.

"oh bollacks" Collin murmured as he walked over to her grinning.

"hello beauty"

"Collin!" she exclaimed flinging herself at him.

"aye she's drunk"

"am not" Kate giggled while walking her fingers up Collins chest.

"well maybe a little"

Luke glanced over to Alex to already find her staring at him. Her eyes sparkling in the dim firelight. A barely there smile lining her full lips. Her dark hair was pulled up into a messy pony tail and she didn't have a trace of make up on. Yet the only thing he could think about was how beautiful she looked right in that moment.

Macy had retired to her room when she noticed everyone was coupling up and Luke walked slowly over to her putting his hand on her cheek and stroking her jaw with his thumb.

"I love you" his whispered.

Alex's face broke info a breathtaking smile.

"I love you more"
