Chapter 82

Chapter 82------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today was the day. Luke and Alex were to be married.

Alex was in the bridal room at Luke's parents church. They had already met with the preacher earlier that week and everything was set.

"oh you look just lovely" Jen said clapping her hands excitedly.

"I can't believe you're getting married" Kate said sniffling. She'd been crying since they arrived at the church that morning.

"thank you miss Jen! And Kate why are you crying!"

"because! He's taking you!"

Alex laughed and fluffed her dress.

"nothing is gonna change Kate! We're all still living together"

"oh yea" *sniff*

Suddenly the sound of someone getting violently sick filled the room.

"good heavens what is that?" asked Jen looking around.

"I... I think that's my phone... But.. But it can't be.."

'there I go thinking of you again.

You don't know how sick you make me.

You make me fucking sick to my stomach. Every time I think of you I puke!'

The ringtone got louder the longer it played.

"lord Alex answer it that sounds gross." said Kate wrinkling her nose.

Alex seemed to come out of whatever trance she was in and made her way over to her purse.

With shaking hand she picked up the cellphone in question and seen 'DO NOT TEXT' in bold letters flashing across the screen.

"um guys can I have a minute?"

"sure dear we need to go check on the boys anyway. We'll see you out there!"

Kate and Jen made their way out side as Alex answered the phone.

"lee?"

"Alex"

Her stomach tightened at the sound of his voice. He sounded so exhausted.

"lee what's wrong?" she blurted before she could stop herself

"she cheated... Sara cheated."

Her heart broke for him. He was feeling the pain she felt . Although Lee had never cheated he had broken her heart all the same.

"lee.. I- I'm sorry but-"

"please Alex I need to talk to you... I need you right now."

Alex squeezed her eyes shut as her throat got tight.

"Lee all those nights I needed to talk to you.. All those nights I spoke and you stayed silent. All those nights I just needed YOU and you were never there.. Those times were your chance to talk. I'm done with you. And I'm sorry."

The last word ended on a sob.

"I'm so sorry I can't be there for you, but I've waited to long on you. I know your heart is broken. But you're getting a taste of your own medicine. And the sooner you deal with it and swallow the easier it will be. I wanted you to hurt and feel my pain but now I wish you the best. I have someone waiting for me at the end of a church isle."

"you- you're getting married?"

"yes" she said swallowing hard.

"to the teacher?"

"yes" she repeated remembering everyone knew about her and Luke now.

"does he make you happy?" he mumbled

"he does"

"I love you Alex"

Alex whimpered and shook her head.

"Alex?"

She took a deep breath and wiped her eyes taking care not to ruin her makeup.

"I have to go lee"

"oh yes. Of course" he cleared his throat.

"goodbye Alex"

"goodbye Lee.... I love you too"
