Chapter 41

Chapter 41------------------------------

"ugh I don't want to go home. Can't we just skip Christmas?"

"No grinch we can't just skip christmas" Alex scolded Kate.

"Now come on the sooner we leave the sooner we can get back" she added with a wink.

Apparently the big surprise Luke had was his little cousin Collin had come from Ireland for a visit. One wink of those sparkling blue eyes and Kate had turned into a ball of giggles Alex hadn't seen in a while.

"shut up" Kate said stifling a smile as they both hauled their suitcases down stairs.

"come on bitches I'm not waiting around all day!" called a high pitched voice from downstairs.

"ya know we'd be a lot faster Jordan if you'd help!" Alex yelled.

"I would but ya know I'm kinda stuck" Alex rolled her eyes and came down to find Max hugging Jordan from behind and refusing to let her budge. He had flown back with her last week and the two were insuperable.

"let's hit the road you two I don't wanna miss our flight"

Max gave Jordan a quick kiss before picking up Kate and Alex's bags to take to the car.

"thanks for offering to take us to the airport"

"no problem dear now let's go"

The ride to the air port consists of them singing loudly and Max covering his ears yelling at them to stop. When they arrive Jordan parked out front while cole carried their bags in to be checked.

"have a safe flight and good luck with your parents" Jordan said hugging each of them.

Alex seen Kate's face fall at the mention of their parents. They said their good byes and made their way in the plane.

"hey it's gonna be fine Kate" Alex Said trying to sound reassuring.

"what if it's not?"

"then I'll kid nap you. Plain and simple" Alex said shrugging.

Kate laughed and shook her head as she put her ear buds in. Alex relaxed against the seat till she felt her phone vibrate.

Taking it out she seen she had one new message.

"sorry I couldn't be there to tell you goodbye love. Stupid meetings :/ I'll miss your eyes this week. Have a safe trip I love you. - Luke"

Alex couldn't help but smile till she heard a sigh. She looked to her left seeing Kate check her phone with a wistful smile on her face. Alex peeked over her shoulder to see the IPhone screen.

'good luck with your parents beauty. I wish I could've been there to wish you farewell. Just know I'm counting the minutes till I hear your laugh again. -Collin.'

Alex smiled and leaned back. It must run in the family. Irish charmers she thought. She was gonna have to talk to that boy when they got back. She didn't think he would hurt Kate but you can never be careful.

She hoped her trust issues wouldn't rub off on Kate. Sometimes she feared she was so fucked up it would rub off on her sister. Kate was around when all the stuff with Lee went down. She had seen the worst of the worst. She had been there during the cutting. Kate had found her one night in the shower blood had filled the bath tub Alex's body had started to get cold and she'd been laying there prepared to die with a blank state on her face. Kate had screamed bloody murder but jerked her out of the shower keeping pressure on her wrists. Alex had sat there frozen the whole time Kate had cleaned and sowed up her wrists.

"ma'am would you like a drink?"

Alex's thoughts were interrupted as a flight attended held out a tray full of little alcohol bottles.

Kate raised an eyebrow in amusement.

"um actually yea"

"Kate! You are so freakin cute!" Alex said overly loud as she squished Kate's cheeks.

"stop touching me" Kate mumbled around her squished cheeks.

"hehehehehehe you.....look....like....a fish!" she sputtered around giggles.

"Oh my lord you're drunk"

"No!" Alex said in mock horror

Kate slapped her hand to her forehead.

"how am I going to explain to mom and dad why you're drunk?"

"you're not!" she said pouting her finger and giggling.

They had managed to stumble off the air plane and into cab and Alex was still loopy.

"do we need to get a hotel room?"

"noooo mom and dad are out picking out wallpaper or something I'll sleep it off when we get there" Alex said making silly faces at Kate.

"stop it" Kate said thumping her nose.

They came to a stop infront of a huge white Victorian home. This was not her home. This was the house she grew up in but not her home. Kate helped her out of the car and into the house. It was eerily quiet as usual everything in its place. It was magazine perfect. Two people lived on this house but you wouldn't know it by the looks. It looked like a fake show house. And that's exactly what came to Alex's mind when she thought of her parents. Fake. Kate helped her up the stairs and into bed.

"come wake me up when they get here."

"I will"

"we're gonna be alright Kate. We've been through worse"
