Chapter 57

"what do you say we got to the pub tonight lass?"

"mmm that sounds fun"

"and you're actually of drinking age here"

"har har har. I know I'm young. You're just jealous"

"oh yes that's it"

"can Kate come?"

"aye if she wants. But I think Collin is taking her out in their own tonight."

"so its just us?"

"just us"

They were sitting in front of the fire place in the living room just enjoying each others company. Collin and Kate had went out for lunch and Jen and Tom were taking an afternoon nap.

Alex laid her head in Luke's lap as he sifted his fingers through her hair. Alex closed her eyes and sighed.

"I could stay like this forever."

"aye as could I "

"I don't want to go home"

"we can always come back love. We've got forever to visit again."

Alex opened her eyes to look up at him.

"it amazes me how you're so sure about us."

"you're not?"

"I'm still scared" she replied honestly

"I'm scared too lass. But I'm not letting you get away. I'll fight tooth and nail for you."

Alex sat up and eased herself into Luke's lap.

"why me?" she asked softly looking in his eyes.

Luke placed a hand on each side of her face.

"as soon as you slammed into me that day I couldn't deny I was attracted you you. I loved bugging you and getting you all riled up. I remember seeing you dancing in the club with that other lad and I couldn't stand it. I thought it was just because I was attracted to you. But that day we went to lunch and I kissed you and seen the hurt in your eyes when I pulled away it about killed me. Then you went off to your friends wedding and I didn't hear from you for almost a week I knew it was more than just an attraction."

"what was it?"

"I remember seeing your scars...." he paused to take a breath and run a hand over his face.

"it broke my heart. All I could think about was you. I was so worried when you didn't come into class that week. But when you did come in... All I could think about was touching you holding you kissing you."

He let out a bitter laugh.

"I knew it was wrong but.. I couldn't help it. It felt so right with you."

Alex cocked her head to the side like a confused puppy.

"there are so many other girls"

"but there's only one Alex" he said running his hands up her sides.

"and she's mine"

She arched into his touch like a cat being stroked.

"I thought you were hot when I first met you" she admitted

Luke sent her a wolffish grin.

"but you annoyed me and I'm not sure why. I think I was trying to fight the attraction. But when we kissed.... I felt more than I wanted to let on."
